I recently stumbled upon one of these at a car boot sale:
And it got me thinking, if you could have any (effect or effects) built into any guitar (or bass) what would you have?
I’d have a Pelham Blue Gibson SG with a Doctor Q and Holy Grail built in…left-handed of course :thumb:
What would you have?April 3, 2009 at 1:59 pm #95196electro-melxModeratorI know it’s kinda boring but most useful to me would be Distortion and a compressor, it would be great to be able to flick from a ‘clean/with comp’ to ‘Distortion without comp’ just with a flick of a switch on the guitar.
April 3, 2009 at 2:42 pm #95198Fender&EHX4everModeratorI am so jealous
I’ve been lusting after a Vox Starstream or Ultrasonic for a long time. One day I hope to afford one.

…anyways, if I could choose any effect to build into my guitar?
It should be something that I would normally put early in my effects chain, like a pitch shifter or a filter. How about a built-in H.O.G.?
April 3, 2009 at 3:01 pm #95201PabloMemberClassy,
a compressor would be super handy,
a HOG?! That’s genius!April 3, 2009 at 11:27 pm #95224PumpkinPiecesMemberProbably the feedback function of a Boss distortion/feedbacker. That way I can run a muck while it makes sweet noise.
April 4, 2009 at 3:51 am #95231julianModeratorA pitchshifter like the HOG or a looper like the SMMH.
Maybe a more stripped down HOG though- no voices- just step bend, octave bend, and freeze gliss. That’d be cool.
April 4, 2009 at 7:39 pm #95250PabloMemberFernandes do a sustainer pickup as far as I know, but that’d be class having that weird theremin-ish sound along with some fuzz.
April 4, 2009 at 8:17 pm #95252julianModeratorYeah, but it’s not like the HOG sustain where you can sustain a chord then play over it

April 6, 2009 at 1:35 am #95321JRigglesMemberI wouldn’t mind a S&H of some kind – like the HOG’s freeze/gliss…that way I could freeze a note/chord and jam away!
April 6, 2009 at 1:45 am #95323BlueSteelParticipantFender Jaguar in sea foam green with a flanger hoax (would this be too many knobs?), this way i wont have to keep bending down to chang settings when i can just do it on the guiar. it would be so much easier.
oh and an lpb-1 of course!

Nice!

April 26, 2009 at 2:01 am #96068ChumleyParticipantThe best guitar ever: Really dark red Jag with a Sustaniac in the neck and a ’59 in the bridge. Internal signal chain would be pickups->Big Muff->Small Stone->Killswitch->Carbon Copy.
So, that would be 4 way pickup arm (bridge, neck without sustain, neck with basic sustain, neck with harmonic sustain), tone and volume (corresponding to the Big Muff), Sustain push/pull knob (Big Muff sustain and i/o), Rate push pull knob (same for the SS), and 3 knobs for the Carbon Copy. So a total of one arm, seven knobs, and a button. Hmm, maybe…

What would you have?i live in omaha and they have one of those for sale at a place called rainbow music. they want $1000 obo, but i’ve seen it online by a guy who restores guitars for something like $200-400.
i think it’s a japanese company called KORT, but the decal they had used on the headstock came off on most of them.
anyone see the electra MPC les paul guitars with interchangeable effects modules in them? that’s a think of the past, but you could probably pick one of them up for under $400, then search for the exact effects you want…the modules go for something like $100 a piece. i’ve been tempted a couple of times…
