lol….no ..not human eye controlled. have you ever seen those night lights that can tell how much light there is and turn on automatically when its dark? well thats the idea, we use the same component thats senses the light, and the closer you get to it, the less light it gets, and instead of slowly turning a light on its acting as a expression pedal. so you dont actualy need to touch it, just how far you are to it, kinda like a ZVEX Fuzz Probe.
Yep.
Not to mention that a lot of phasers and other pedals have those inside them right next to an LED to convert things.
DISTORTION-FREE SUSTAINER
How about that?
No, but seriously, RI the Attack-Decay. When you can find them they are god-awful expensive and in bad shape.
hay Julian!?…….do you have any suggestions as to how to mount the photo cell? that is one prob i am having.
the only way i know of currently is to hot glue them frum under the enclosure then use a clear 3m bumpon (same as the black feet on most EHX pedal’s but clear) as a cover on the outside.
well I’m using photocells inside a pedal being rolled with LEDs to make my own vactrols
BUT for your application, I think I’d go for something like this:

You’d still have to glue it in underneath, but it’s much nicer than a clear rubber foot!
nice idea, i was considering using the same chrome holders i use for my LED’s , it would look nice and hold well, but it would be exposed on the outside, and i haven’t made up my mind as to weather that was a bad idea or not.
