    don’t forget Peter Hook used the Clone Theory on many of his basslines in Joy Division and New Order (if that wasn’t mentioned here already)

    Has anyone done a exact breakdown per track of what Andy Summers has used in Police songs?

    All I know is that he used a compressor (Boss CS-2?) with an Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress and a Maestro Echoplex, and possibly his MXR Phase 90.

    And, that the Mistress is his key method of chorusing, rather than a dedicated chorus pedal.

    I’m pretty sure john frusciante uses some sort of ehx pedal on “The Empyrean”. He probably uses one of the holy grail reverb pedals in his song “Central” because there is a ton of reverb and i know he has one on his pedalboard.

    I’m not sure if this fills the requirement of iconic, but John Mayer uses the POG on In Repair. There’s a video called “One song, one day” where they show how the track was written and recorded.

    Also, I don’t remember what tracks it’s used on, but I remember listening to an interview with John Frusciante on musicradar.com where he says that he used the English Muff’n on The Empyrean.

    Doesn’t OK GO use a big muff pi in some of their music? I was listening to them this morining and tought the bass sounded like it was used with a big muff pi.
