Long story short, i picked this unit off of ebay and i probably shouldnt have Its missing pots, IC’s and a few other resistors from what i can tell.. I shot Howard Davis an email about getting it fixed and he basically said it probably wouldnt be worth it..
I know i can fix it but the IC chips have me worried just a little, are those something that i can just order from Mouser?
I feel confident in my fixing skills but its more of a lack of the knowledge of what needs to be fixed..
*sigh*
Here are some pics..

I can’t tell how many ICs or which ICs are missing, but if the mn3005s are missing (which I suspect they may be) those you can’t get from mouser, because panasonic doesn’t make them anymore. You pretty much have to get them off of ebay.
That’s A LOT of work.
Source the parts
repopulate them on the board
then calibrateI bet that’s about 200-300 bucks in repairs. IF you can do it all yourself though, it shouldn’t be too bad.

This unit used SAD1024, not MN3005. That makes it even worse. They’ve been out of production for a longer time and right now run about $40 each or more. You’d need 4 pieces for this unit.
I would be interested in purchasing or trading for it as a parts unit. Shoot me an email if you’re interested.July 25, 2009 at 4:59 pm #99949julianModeratoroops, I guess I looked at some completely wrong schems!!
July 25, 2009 at 5:12 pm #99950devnulljpParticipantThere’s a guy on the DIY forum with a stack of SAD1024s*: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=76938.0
It’s going to cost you at least E80 just for those chips though…
There was another guy a while back asking $80 a piece.*No affiliation / not mine / don’t know seller just trying to help
I’ll lay you odds the guy who sold you that pedal ripped it apart to sell the components on ebay then sold you the junk left over.
I hate that.July 26, 2009 at 3:32 pm #99983Saturnine10MemberDamnit.
Well thanks for the help guys. This is what was in the sellers description..
” This unit was a donor many years ago for the pots. It needs a little work to get it going. But well worth what we are asking for it.”
Ugh, and to think i paid close to $100 for this unit
Oi Vei!

The Reticons might still be good. If that’s the case, you got a deal. You could resell just those chips alone on eBay for about $25 a pop, then sell the enclosure and the remaining parts for another $25 to someone who needs them.
I’d reckon you could fix the unit if the Reticons are still good, but that would be a monster headache!
July 26, 2009 at 4:38 pm #99987The EH ManModeratorThere are no Reticons left in it. That makes it costly to repair.

My condolences.
July 26, 2009 at 6:00 pm #99990nightravenMemberwho would salvage such a beautiful and lovely sounding pedal for the chips?
July 26, 2009 at 6:12 pm #99991Saturnine10MemberNo idea
July 27, 2009 at 12:21 am #100002dmc777MemberOuch. Atleast I know a little bit about what mine looks like under there now though.

OP, did you pay with paypal?
I’d file a dispute: “item not as described” — that thing has been harvested for more than pots. Return it and get your $$ back. (even better if you used a cc on paypal, do a chargeback and let paypal go after the seller).July 28, 2009 at 7:14 am #100047Saturnine10MemberIts all good now, i actually traded it for a 75′ Small Stone
Thanks EH!
