Hey I’ve got a old Russian Big Muff that I’m trying to take apart.
It’s the 4 screw version with the metal plate on top (this one http://www.big-muff.net/fx-info.php?picture=1475)
I’ve taken the knobs off, the 4 screws on the metal plate, and 2 plastic washers around the input/output jacks.
Now when removing that metal plate I’m pulling it from the front – it only just clears the footswitch and volume and tone pots — then it’s pretty much wedged between the distortion pot and input/output jacks, and because they are plastic I don’t want to go giving it a full strength heave because I reckon they’ll snap right off.
Anyone know a trick to getting this thing apart?
You’ll need to pull it out and over the jacks first, then pull up to clear the pots. It’s tight but it can be done. Once you’re over the jacks you’ll be clear of breakable stuff.
thanks chief, ended up using a screwdriver to safely pry it over those jacks
Yeah you pretty much have to take it over the jacks first, you end up bending to top plate if you dont. I did this first time I opened mine.LOL
The little washers that are between the chassis and PCB are a prick to line up, I just glued mine in place.
