Home › Forums › Vintage EHX › How to connect synth to Golden Throat ?
Hi ,
Just bought a Golden Throat 2 .
I don’t want to use it with a guitar, just want to connect my synth to it.
I can’t figure out how to do it.
Do you need a guitar amp even if you use it with a synth or is there another way?
Thanks
It has to have a speaker level output so you’ll have to run it through an amp first.
So i connect my synth output in the guitar input of an amp ?
the speaker out from the amp goes to which one on the golden throat? speaker or amplifier?
thank you
Exactly. Synth to amp, amp to Golden Throat amplifier jack, speaker jack to speaker.
So the speaker jack to my audio interface line input?
I only get sound when the EHX is in bypass mode, when i switch it on there is no speaker output signal but i can hear it working through the tube. Any idea what it could be?
the red led isn’t lighting up either
Plug your synth into an amp. Take the speaker out jack of the amp and plug it into the amplifier jack on the Golden Throat. The speaker out of the Golden Throat has to connect to a speaker, not a line in jack. The red light will only light up during overload conditions.
But how could i record it then ?
Just a regular audio speaker you mean?
Just a regular audio speaker. If you want to record it you’ll have to use a direct box with a speaker input or a microphone.
The speaker output only works in bypass. When it’s on I can hear it working in the tube itself though.
That’s correct. Sorry, you can’t use a direct box to record it. You’ll have to use a microphone.
