Based on the many video reviews, I purchased the Hot Wax pedal back in January. When I tried it out, I didn’t really like the sound of it, so I simply put it aside. I recently went back and watched some of the video reviews, and realized that my pedal doesn’t really sound like any of those; mine seems to have somewhat more “fuzz” to it (which I do not like). I’ve tried it by itself straight into a clean amp channel, and moved it around on my pedalboard, but I just can’t get it to sound full, beefy, and not fuzzy sounding like I hear in the videos. I use two different PRS SE guitars and a Fender Standard Strat. Do I have a problem with my pedal?
Maybe I need to re-phrase my question. Is the Hot Wax supposed to sound like a fuzz-type overdrive?
Its impossible to know what your hearing. It should be full sounding. Any chance you can try another one to compare??
Try just the Crayon side. That should be FAT.
