Now I have ordered the Voice Box I am gearing up for the Holy Stain, next on my list of must-haves.
Questions:
Does EHX already have a Holy Stain foot pedal to control pitch bend?
If not…
Which expression pedal should I get to control the pitch bend?
Any input is greatly appreciated!

But the instructions give you a list of pedals that can work, including pedals from BOSS, M Audio, Moog, etc…If you go over to the “Post Your Pedal Board” thread, my pedal board is on the newest page & I have a Holy Stain with the M Audio expression pedal. It’s the cheapest out of the bunch, but is also less sturdy than others, but I don’t stop it to death so I’m not really worried.
PS…the expression pedal controls the Amount knob on ANY of the 4 settings (room, hall, pitch & trem)…So you can not only change the pitch bend but also change the amount of reverb or the rate of the trem.

You’ll have to give me a breather on the Holy Stain. First I have to pick up the Voice Box and get into that, while getting the cash together to buy the Holy Stain. But then I will certainly put some sounds together for you.
May 5, 2009 at 1:59 am #96338mhuxtableMemberThe Holy Stain is very cool, its just a weird animal. I for one think the 2 reverbs are worth the $100. That alone sold me. The fuzz sound is pretty good if you are into that sort of thing and the Warm, Bright and Dark settings are very true to their labels. To me, the distortion sounds absolutely stupid…I never use it. The Trem is nice sounding…pretty useful. The pitch bend to me is the weakest feature…I mean who only wants a pitch bend that goes a 4th down to a 3rd up? No 5ths? And to be honest, the tracking sucks. Even with single notes there is a NOTICEABLE delay between the 2 notes.
But like I said, I use it mainly for the reverbs and the trem. That Hall reverb is so lush and the overtones that are produced are so amazing…it really is almost organ like. With the expression pedal, I can easily transition from a really washed out sound to a normal reverb for strumming & whatnot. And if you are into fuzz, it gives a nice fuzz as well.

The pitch change interests me principally for use with a Deagan Electravibe since the vibes’ keys can be “bent” to a certain extent with the mallets, but not as much as I would like. I have used the Memory Man (vintage model) with a Hotfoot controller to vary slapback delay to imply pitch change, that being an analog / mechanical process. I am hoping that the latency in the pitch change you mention is not too pronounced.
