I just bought a brand new HOG with the intention of getting that cool string bass sound on the Effectology demo, and I’m finding that the output of the HOG is way lower than dry signal.
To get that sound, you need dry output all the way down, since I’m using only the -1 octave slider. I’d like to get a loop going with this bass tone (with my Stereo Memory Man), then go back to my lead guitar tone and jam over that.
Since the volume is pretty quiet, what is a good solution? Use a boost pedal?

For the string bass sound are you using the Microsynth after the HOG?
The Micro really gave it the String bass sound
I also used the original slider and dropped the pitch with the foot pedal.
Its a slightly different sound.
A compressor will boost the output is needed as well as any clean booster like the LPB-1 or Analogizer.Bill

The volume issue is not horrible but watching VU meters in Pro Tools as well as audibly, it’s softer than clean. Footpedal experiment didn’t improve it either. I don’t own the Micro Synth but it seems like that was for envelope filter effect, which I seem to have enough of in the HOG. I am trying to achieve a cello/standup bass sound at equal volume to my dry signal. Maybe I’ll see how the Analogizer works as a boost, unless anyone has other suggestions. Thanks!

Axis7,
Let us know how it works. I am really interest mostly on getting the Analogizer and the HOG together. I presume the Analogizer will help as a boost before the HOG and as a warmer after it…I may get one for my HOG…March 1, 2012 at 3:15 am #117048axis7ParticipantTo be clear, it is only the low output when I have the -1 Octave up full and no dry signal. To get to normal volume would clip.
I hadn’t thought of Analogizer as a boost, mostly since I’m opposed to pushing two footswitches down to get a sound, but that would likely work. I could try it. I actually have HOG in effects loops, and Analogizer in series after a slightly bright Pigtronix Phase pedal, which works great. I’ll try your experiment though!
