    hey everyone

    i bought a HOG first version a few years back, bought it new, never had any problem with it until yesterday.
    everything seems to work fine except with the expression pedal.
    the exp reverse button works as it’s supposed to, but when i put the exp pedal to its maximum setting (to “toe”) the effect chosen doesn’t go all the way. like the octave sweep starts in tune but doesn’t go the the octave up, just a little under.
    the freeze mode also doesn’t work, it doesn’t freeze, the sound dies pretty fast.
    can it come from the expression pedal, in that case i just need to buy a new one or just a new pot, which is not very expensive, or can it come from the HOG?
    what resistance value is the expression pedal (m-audio) supposed to be? i could try to measure heel and toe positions, but i’m not sure it will give me enough information…
    any idea or thought is welcome!

    There is a taper knob on the side of the expression pedal
    is it all the way up?

    well, it’s all one way, up or down i don’t know, otherwise the effect is not at its minimum setting when the expression pedal is at the “heel” position.

    Ok than there seems to be a problem with the M audio pedal.

    The exp pedal is the same specs at Roland Boss and Mission pedals.

    The exp is a 10 k pot and the taper is a 50k pot
    schematics can be fond on line if you search Roland EV-5 schematic or for the m audio

    ok, thanks a lot!
    i’ll try to see if the values show 10k on the meter, then i’ll try to replace the pot if unefficient.
    i’ll send an email to ehx and see what they say about this.

    about the expression pedal, does it have to be a 10k pot or can it be a 50k or 100k with the same taper? (probably a linear taper, i guess…)

    For the expression pot just 10k
    I bet your pedal just got off the gear of the pot an at full throw
    One notch off and maybe you not getting full value.
    i don’t know just a guess. It is mechanical so you could look inside.
