hi. with the HOG there are various expression pedal control options – volume, wah, filter, octave bend, step bend, freeze/gliss and freeze/volume.
I *assume* that these are all discrete circuits, and that the only reason you can only use one at any given time is that ehx chose to only provide one expression pedal input and midi/cv converter.
if this is true, would it be possible to add additional, dedicated expression pedal inputs and utilise more than one function at any given time?
while i realize that i only have two feet, i have confirmed that i can use control voltages (ie, from a modular synth or various moogerfooger products) to control the HOG. so, it would be cool to have an lfo cv providing tremolo by modulating the volume, an envelope follower cv triggering a filter sweep, and perhaps control of the freeze/gliss with an expression pedal.
anyone got a schematic, or perhaps ehx has an answer?
My assumption would be no.
I don’t know how the HOG was programmed, but I’m assuming that there is an analog to digital converter on one or two pins in there that it is connected to, and that the switch sends a digital signal to the chip to choose what that signal is controlling.
However, of course, because there are wet and dry outs- a volume pedal (or a simple VCA with a CV in) after the wet could work as the Volume function, and since there is a slider for the filter, that could probably be modded to have a CV in as well.
