Since the HOG has an expression pedal jack, it seems logical that you can also control the expression modes using a control voltage from an outside source. I was wondering what voltage range the HOG uses. For example, if i have something that sends a control voltage of 0-15V would it hurt anything if I adjusted it over the maximum range the unit usually operates at?
I have been able to use the CV out on my Moog Right Modulator to get LFO type effects with the HOG, but it doesn’t seem to be exactly the right range (0-5V, I believe it is.)
I’m not sure exactly how it’s wired up, but there’s a chance you’d damage something. Does 0 to 5 send it the whole range and then some, or not quite the whole range?
Well, the Moog, I found out, actually sends less than 0-5. Something more like, +/- 2ish, so that’s ok. This sequencer I have, however, will send 0-15 and that’s more what I’m concerned about. I will have to actually measure the voltage on the cable to be sure, but it’s supposed to go up to 15V.
I measured my power adapter for the HOG the other day (the official one) and that actually seems to be sending something like 12 or more volts, so is 15 really a problem or will it possibly just sound funny?
The power adapter is irrelevant. Remember in circuits that different voltages are needed throughout. The voltage at the power jack is not seen by every part.
In an email a year ago, EHX told me that I could use 0-5. I’m assuming that more than 5V there could very well fry the ADC, or have no effect because the maximum value was already reached.

Ok. I’ll make sure it doesn’t go over 5 then.
