For the sake of posterity I’ll add this. I purchased the hog 2, without the foot controller. I intend on using a midi controller, but didn’t have enough for both up front plus the midi switcher for my amp. You can still take advantage of the preset function, at least for preset 0. You can also stretch extra mileage out of the expression pedal.
1.) Press and hold Spectral Gate until the prest light comes on.
2.) Change the Expression mode to step bend.
3.) Make sure the exp pedal is on.
4.) Move the expression pedal until the pitch is a half step down, using a tuner to verify. (Easy with my Peterson.)
5.) While holding that position, press and hold the Exp Mode button until it blinks.
6.) Turn off the exp pedal and set the off position to 10. ( lowering the pitch a whole step)
Now when the exp pedal is unplugged you will be 1 half step down, and when it is plugged in but off you will be a whole step down.
If you press and hold spectral gate until the preset light is off you can set the controls to a different preset for WYSIWYG mode.
Not exactly 3 different presets, but in a pinch you can use one guitar for 3-6 tuning options. 440/drop D, Eb/drop Db, and D standard/dropC . Hope it helps someone.
