Personally I think EHX should concentrate on new digital effects, I think it is where they are really hitting the mark these days, the Hazarai, Micro pog, Voice box, Hog….brilliant, brilliant pedals that are unique and quite frankly amazing. The designers of these pedals have proved that they can basically ‘do anything’ and imo are leading the way in exciting new ehx products. (and effects pedals in general)
I don’t think they should stop making new analogue and tube pedals totally, but I feel that maybe there isn’t much left to do in these areas, in the digital realm ehx are proving themselves to be right on the cutting edge and are making things that ’boutique’ builders couldn’t do in their wildest dreams.
…..so yeah, I say keeep these wonderful mindblowing digital effects coming, imo they are probably the most exciting (and yet affordable) guitar products available at the moment.
January 5, 2009 at 12:54 pm #90095asatbluesboyParticipantI surprisingly agree…
EHX has already kicked analog ass enough.
January 5, 2009 at 1:35 pm #90099nightravenMemberyeah, despite my entire board being analogue, i agree.
January 5, 2009 at 3:28 pm #90104Kevin DemuthMemberi don’t necessarily agree that they should concentrate on digital effects, nor do i think they should concentrate on analogue effects…
as long as they continue making great sounding INNOVATIVE products in their current price range i’ll be very happy.
i agree that the Haz, Micro Pog, Hog etc standout but there are also pedals such as the Germanium OD which are quite unique.

January 5, 2009 at 8:26 pm #90133BlueSteelParticipantI totally agree, but they should still work on making awesome analog effects too.
January 5, 2009 at 8:58 pm #90135GoldengloveMemberDigital stuff is cool
A speaker sim would be awesome. And maybe some ultra-weird valve stuff like the Metasonix ones (well, not exactly like them), but at a nicer price? A new Hot Tubes pedal with something extra?
January 5, 2009 at 11:02 pm #90141TangoMemberA bit off-topic, but this reminded me that Line 6 has a programmable FX stompbox, and there are also a few others. One trait that all of them seem to share though is that they require some programming knowledge to be able to create FX. I would like to see something similar, but geared towards the less technologically-inclined, probably by being able to program stuff with some sort of GUI. Something a bit like NI Reaktor, but for programming FX, and then with a compatible stompbox/floor module/whatever.
January 6, 2009 at 9:04 am #90170julianModeratorI wouldn’t say focus on digital
but I expect them to keep pushing the envelope with new digital effects that do things that weren’t quite possible beforeJanuary 6, 2009 at 9:17 am #90172julianModeratorQuote:A bit off-topic, but this reminded me that Line 6 has a programmable FX stompbox, and there are also a few others. January 6, 2009 at 8:04 pm #90201Fender&EHX4everModeratorThe Flanger Hoax, HOG, the Holiest Grail, the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai, and the Germ OD are my favorite releases since the tube series. 3 out of 5 are digital.
However, I would love to see a tube powered rotary speaker, and a tube powered cassette-tape delay/modulator
January 6, 2009 at 8:26 pm #90204Ned FlandersModeratorI agree so long as they continue making all the analog stuff.
January 12, 2009 at 4:43 am #90495CostchParticipantI heard that the octaving section of the regular POG is digital while the input gain preamp is analog. I wanna see some more crazy things that have never been done before, like the voicebox.

Also, why not just a simple, old school tape delay? A real one–like all the companies are trying to make via digital means. I do agree that digital FX are fun and can make wonderful sounds, but nobody needs to drop analog. Especially not EHX.
