i have a vintage small clone mini-chorus with pots that date it to 1983 that i just purchased, when i got it i noticed that it had an issue that sounded like a typical short, as you would hear in a shorting guitar cable or input jack and i dismissed it as likely a short in the input jack. then after a few weeks of use the pedal stopped turning on completely, meaning it is always a dry signal, when you step on the switch the effect never comes on and the light doesn’t turn on.
i have a limited novice experience with electronics so rather than send it off to my amp tech i thought i would open it and try and find the issue if it were something simple to fix. at first i thought it was likely the switch itself so i jumpered the two connectors on the switch with a wire to straight wire around the switch thinking that would bypass the possible malfunctioning switch momentarily to determine if it was an issue with the switch itself but i still had no change in the issue and the effect did not turn on nor did the light.
i now assume it is possibly a short in the circuitboard somewhere but i am not knowledgeable in how to test further with my multimeter to find the faulty capacitor, chip or whatever might be the issue. or maybe is there something about the functionality of the switch i am misunderstanding and my connecting the two leads wouldn’t activate the effect? any help/information with this would be appreciated.
