Home › Forums › Vintage EHX › Help dating a Russian made bubble font green Big Muff, please?!
A buddy of mine has this (looks like second edition, version 7) Sovtek/EHX Big Muff that he wants me to sell for him. He said he bought it maybe 10 years ago or more from a guy and claims “it was old even back then” but everything I see online says that this was made in maybe 1994 or so. It’s the bubble font, rectangular feet, 4 screws. When I told him it looks like it was made in the mid 90’s he said “nah it’s older than that man. it’s a vintage one. real deal.” All that. And also, another musician buddy of ours said the same thing, “I have 2, that’s like 70’s or something”. But NOTHING online says anything about vintage ones. Did they maybe reissue them in the 90’s and that’s what I’m seeing online everywhere? Or did they only make these in the 90’s and my buddies are mistaken? I’m just confused because whenever I try to search for vintage models, I don’t find anything about 60’s, 70’s or anything, with this particular version. I’ve been on the Big Muff Pi Page a lot, which is where I’m getting my info. Seems to be reputable and people on other forums recommend it. And it looks old. But I don’t know if these just kind of look old because of what they’re made out of or what. So what’s the deal? I only can upload one picture because of the size unfortunately. Any info would be a huuge help. Thanks!
Green russian muffs were only made in the 90s. No eartlier.
