How much and how common is the Sunn name across the pond? My guitarist and I each have a Sunn Solaurs, and we picked ’em up for pretty low cost. Mine’s a 2×12 combo from ’68, only has 40 watts, and is too loud in the house if I crank it past 2. At gigs, 4 is just about the max. The only way I can get it dirty naturally (no pedals, I mean) is to push it past 5 or 6, and I think I might start breaking windows at that volume, so as you could guess, it stays clean for days. I have no idea what 10 sounds like… I’m scared…

    hey everybody

    you’ve all been very helpful

I went to the shop where my lester was being set up and tried out the Peavey to check the work on the guitar and see what it sounded like

    I couldn’t really play loud – but I liked what I heard

I could coax a nice low level overdrive sound out of the preamp as it has 2 gain controls in addition to the volume as well as the option of putting another valve in the circuit as a gain stage

the reverb was pretty good too – just sounded like an amp reverb really so I am well pleased in that regard

I’m a University Student right now – so hopefully I’ll get a cafe job in the summer

If I worked full time for one month on minimum wage I could more than afford the Peavey – and I think it would punch exactly the right weight for me
