I just got one of these beauties and it is huge! It is quite cool though, and simple. Just a horn driver and plastic tube intercepting the amp’s signal. After seeing one go for big bucks last week on feebay I have decided I’m going to be putting it up for sale, as my Voice Box does what I would need out of this and more, but it is quite interesting. Oh, and did I mention huge?!?! Anyway, if anyone else has some video, pictures, or reviews/opions of these hefty fellas, please share.

I tried out the first Golden Throat in Luc Mettler’s Audio shop in Pigalle, Paris, France. The sound was seriously amazing. However, being a post-war Englishman, I immediately lost two fillings in my teeth and had to stop the session before hurriedly leaving the place with a mumble of appreciation. The Golden Throat delivered a powerful punch.

My Golden Throat II just arrived today! WooHoo!!!! My wife and cat were not amused by the creepy voices coming from my studio, but hey, you can’t please everyone. I was having a blast.

So 2 things I discovered with the Golden Throat II:

    1. The .22 Caliber makes an truly awesome companion for it
    2. The Deluxe Big Muff Pi sounds insanely good with it too

Now that sounds cool! How do you handle the rest of the equipment while Golden Throating? I wanted to use one of these GTs with my Electravibe but what with two vibes mallets in each hand and a balancing act between the vibes’ expression pedal and my effect pedals I reckoned it was not worth the effort. (Not forgetting my experience trying one out with electric guitar). However, reading your post makes me think I should at least have tried once…..or maybe twice!!!!

That would definitely take some practice to master.

I was watching Frampton and Joe Walsh on YouTube last night to see how they managed on stage. They have the tube strapped to their microphone running parallel to it all the way down the stand, but leaving about 4 extra inches of length past the ball of the microphone. You would definitely need a boom long enough to keep the stand behind your vibes.

    Hello everyone. First time posting.

A year ago I bought exactly the same GTII but failed to fire it so far. Why? I’m afraid to damage the amp. I can’t find any info about the impendance or the total load of the amp or the “Ω” thing in relation to the the GTII. I’ve got 1971 Fender Bassman 50. Total load 4 Ohms. Can I plug GTII between the amp and the speaker and run it with no worries? Please help me! I’d like to play with this thing so much but so far it’s quietly sleeping in the shelf because of my ignorance. :(
