Hello!
this effect pedal has a factory design problem: [strong]it has no volume knob[/strong].
so it’s practically unusuable inside a pedal chain, because in order for this effect to work properly you have to crank the gain knob all the way up (or at least at 2pm) and the result of this is having a very high volume when this pedal is on.
do a search in google about this issue and you’ll see.
so please…if you’re planning to buy this pedal…don’t do it. go for the other version of it…the germanium 4 big muff (or something like that). that version has a [strong]volume knob[/strong].
Hello,
they have germanium transistors, they are different.
I used to buy 2 of them to hold the nicer one…
My one works well in a signal chain as shown on the photo.
As you see, it is not cranked to the max.
Maybe there’s something wrong with mine then or maybe you use it in a very slightly way
BTW I do not use the volume potentiometer of my instrument to the max. I use it at 75% to have range for dynamics. In order for this pedal to work well the volume potentiometer of your instrument must be at 100%.
if you want to try it that way and tell if it still works fine.
thanks for the reply!
I eliminate the bass frequencies with the bird,
give it more nastyness with tho OD to use the
distortion of the Muff in the end.
It is important to figure out, where the spot is, the signal breaks
at bias and volts pot. No other pedal gives me that effekt!
Mine has a NKT 275 white dot transistor. Cranked with a little his,
but needs a little more input gain.
Yes, it is a slightly effekt, but it works for me.
Without the Germanium Od the sound is only superficial.
I tried it with 75% at the volume pot of my aktive pickup
and it works as it supposed to be. I often play at lower volume settings…
PS: I use a Z.Vex Super Hard On Booster with my Tonebender,
to give the distortion more edge. It also works well.
