Hi! I want to get the best possible germanium pedal and i`m considering the Germanium OD or the Germanium Big Muff. After a quick look one notices that although the Big Muff has A LOT more features it`s only about 20 dollar more. Why is this? Are there any compromises when it comes the basic sound of the Big Muff or is the Germanium OD simply overpriced?

Sure it’s only $20 more but there’s probably only $5-$10 (if that) of extra parts inside, most of the pedal ‘cost’ comes from developing and manufacturing the product itself, what’s inside is worth very little really.

I guess what i want to know is whether the Germanium 4 Big Muff is capable of doing everything that the Germanium OD does or whether the Germanium OD is made out of higher quality components? I`m mainly looking for what i`ve heard the Germanium OD do but if i can get it with the added versatility and possibilities of the Germanium 4 Big Muff then I´ll of course go for that. I do however not want to compromise the authenticity of the sound so if the Germanium OD is a better sounding Stones, Stooges type of overdrive then….Any idea?

I’m not sure if the Germ4 muff can cover the same sounds as the GermOD or not .. and that’s really what you need to know… from the demos I’ve seen I’m tempted to say ‘yes’ but without actually having the two side by side I wouldn’t really like to guess at that.
I don’t think there would be any difference in quality between the pedals though… so if you like what you’ve heard from the Germ4muff I’d be tempted to get that because like you said originally it doesn’t cost a lot more
