yeah, you do!
i use it most for a clean(ish) sound or for adding a different ‘texture’ to other pedals.
it sounds great with the Punkifier… it can make it sound even nastier! :rawk:
February 9, 2009 at 10:22 pm #92993rocketMemberYeah it’s pretty awesome. I’m pleased with it. I recently switched to using a clean amp and driving it with pedals, so this is my first proper foray into dirt pedals. Previously I was using an Orange Tiny Terror which had great overdrive but no clean headroom. So I’m really experimenting on a budget.
April 13, 2009 at 7:27 pm #95605rafsbioMemberI really like the overdrive tone of the Double Muff in single mode, but the fact that I can’t use wah before the DM really annoys me.
Is the GeOD the answer?

The GeOD is a fairly light overdrive, completely different from the Double Muff. It’s more garage rock and a bit ratty sounding like a ripped speaker, but it’s not nearly as heavy as the Double Muff.

the GeOD is very different to a Double Muff (even in single mode); it doesn’t have as much gain for a start.
the GeOD does have several uses for me though…
1) i play clean a lot of the time in my music, so the GeOD can be used as a different clean ‘colour’; it adds a little compression too which i like.
2) with the gain (near to or) all the way up it makes a great od/boost which is very sensitive to playing dynamics and changes made to my guitars controls* (* with the pedal first in line.)
3) used after other dirt pedals as a kind of ‘enhancer’. set clean it adds a thickness and clarity to most other dirt pedals i’ve tried with it; or you can go for more extreme settings where it’ll add a different ‘texture’ to your other pedals or completely transform them.i don’t really have any use for the ripped speaker-like settings (at the moment).
another way i’ve been using the GeOD lately has been while mixing… i’ve used it on an Aux send from my mixer to process selected tracks or even a full mix.

Well, anyway it seems the GeOD works OK with Wahs and Compressors before it, right? It doesn’t have the impedance issues as the Double Muff and other fuzz pedals, does it?

Help me please GeOD owners!

I haven’t noticed any issues, but then the GeOD isn’t really a pedal I would use for dirt in conjunction with a wah. Maybe as a boost. Also, I prefer compression after the GeOD if I use compression with it at all. It gives it more crunch, somehow, though less attack.
I feel like without compression the GeOD works best when pushing the tubes in your amp.April 19, 2009 at 12:19 pm #95816MINGMemberI like using the GeOD by itself. Once in awhile, I’ll run it with another dirt pedal. I’ll set the GeOD for that torn speaker tone. So when stacking it. You get this little bit of crude at the edges.

I may be getting one to push my little Fender Champ 600.April 29, 2009 at 1:26 am #96157mattcaseyMemberMING — i’m joining this a little late, but i’ve had a germanium for about half a year now. i love it! the last couple weeks i’ve been playing a les paul special through a dod yngwie malmsteen overdrive, then to an octave multiplexer, then germanium, then english muffn.
i’m not crazy about having both the geOD and muffn activated at the same time, but the yngwie (got it for free with my eng muffn, but it’s awesome for a $30 pedal) the yngwie to the germanium sounds incredible. it just takes the treble boost to an insane level and makes the most righteous speaker ripping sound EVER!!!!!!
with the octave multiplexer engaged in there, it makes some crazy deep sounds, but the tracking can get pretty f’ed up — a sound i really dig.
if you’re into stoner rock, there’s definitely awesome sounds you can achieve with this combo.
also, i’ve noticed with the geOD you kind of have to pick your gain first, then if you want to short the voltage dial that down to just about the point where it cuts out, and finally fine tune the devolt/dead battery sound with the bias. anyone else have suggestions on ways to pull out awesome sounds from this guy?

Riddle me some questions, but bear with me, I don’t play with distortion. Does it boost your volume crazy loud and hiss like mad? I’m trying to find something of a light dirt or slightly overdriven TS-9/Bad Monkey but “different” sorta sound out of this pedal. Can it do that with my Telecasters? It gets loud, but not too loud. I don’t get any hiss with mine. If I have all of the knobs close to max, I do pick up radio stations. I have a few other pedals that do this aswell. This is a light dirt/od, there isn’t much gain to this pedal. I wouldn’t compare it to a TS. You can also get that ripped speaker/velcro-y sound by lowering the voltage.
i used to have the hiss/radio station issue a bit too. i noticed that the more gain the more radio, also try placing it at different points in your FX chain, or if you have a daisy chain power supply, switch around which slot is powering it, you should be able to minimize the hiss/radio so it’s not even there.

Tube based also: English Muff’n, Hot Tubes, Tube Zipper

ah, gathered that by the two huge tubes sticking out of my muffn!
