I wanted one since they were released. Nodody, locally, carried them. After a dentist visit, I decided to treat myself to a pedal. The shop, across from the dentist, had one. They wouldn’t match GC’s online price, but I did a lot better then the original price.
I’ve been running it into my AC15. Gain around 2 o’clock, bias and voltage at 11 o’clock. Add some reverb or tremolo, you got early Stones to a T.

Riddle me some questions, but bear with me, I don’t play with distortion. Does it boost your volume crazy loud and hiss like mad? I’m trying to find something of a light dirt or slightly overdriven TS-9/Bad Monkey but “different” sorta sound out of this pedal. Can it do that with my Telecasters?

Where did you find one in the UK for £66, I can’t find one for less than £91.50 ?

I don’t get any hiss with mine. If I have all of the knobs close to max, I do pick up radio stations. I have a few other pedals that do this aswell. This is a light dirt/od, there isn’t much gain to this pedal. I wouldn’t compare it to a TS. You can also get that ripped speaker/velcro-y sound by lowering the voltage.

Quote:Here’s a soundclip I posted using 3 different EHX distortions: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6820524Deluxe Big Muff Pi, Reissue Hot Tubes, Germanium OD
There are only 2 different riffs, each played 3 times.
Can you guess which distortion was used with which riff?

yes.
“The Electro-Harmonix Germanium OD is a classic 1960’s overdrive based around a hand selected germanium transistor.”

February 9, 2009 at 2:28 am #92958rocketMemberSo I got one of these today used for $75 which is pretty good. They’ve certainly come down in price. The box has the original tag on it of $165 and yesterday I tried one out new for $99, which I think is a more competitive price and the original price contributed to their being unpopular. Anyway, I like how the knobs are very interactive. It definitely rocks the slashed speaker and dying battery sound, but you can get more conventional low gain warm overdrives too. It’s very raw, garage rock sounding. I’ve put my Double Muff in front of it to just give it the extra gain that the pedal doesn’t have, but retain that raw ripped up character. All in all, I really like it. I wouldn’t recommend it as anyone’s only overdrive but coupled with another drive before it or a boost it cranks.

quite often i’ll leave it on all of the time (with a subtle setting) and run other dirt pedals into it; the GeOD is one of those magic pedals which seems to make any other pedal you use it with sound better. :thumb:February 9, 2009 at 10:56 am #92972electro-melxModeratorQuote:Quote:I wouldn’t recommend it as anyone’s only overdrive but coupled with another drive before it or a boost it cranks.that’s exactly how i use mine…
