Just curious what everyone thinks. FX loop or in line?
In line.
in line
But then again, I’ve got a high wattage amp and depend on my pedals for dirt.
I just got a sweet low wattage amp yesterday though, and I don’t mind running effects in-line. Yeah, the can sound dirty, but that’s part of the charm of the amp in the first place. It’s unforgiving and rock and roll.
in line as a rule….although I put my graphic eq in my loop sometimes….but I guess that’s not really an effect.
How do you get around the pedals effecting the tone when bypassed? Has anyone used a buffer? I’m thinking of picking one up to see how it works, but would appreciate any suggestions.
don’t have an effects loop on my amp. it’s set totally clean anyway so i’m not missing it.
Well I’ve got a mix of true bypass and buffered bypass pedals that have pretty good buffers.
I don’t worry about it…. if I was that botherd I’d just put the whole lot in a bypass loop for a clean straight to amp tone when I wanted it.
fx pedals sound cleaner (specially with drive ) in fx loop, so I put them in fx loop.
in line, pedals sound more vintage, but ehx pedals are already vintage!
only my Mini Q tron is in line because it’s a filter effect
i put mine in line.
Well, I had mine in line for years but now its in the loop and i think sounds so much better. Lets just say the pedals now sit in the sound, does that make sense? As I don’t use any overdrive of fuzz pedals but rely on the amps overdrive most of my gear is modulation, echoes, wah etc. Having the small stone in the loop, the sound is just peachy also the wiggler and SMMWH. The best way is just to experiment and see what sounds good to your ears. Good luck.
