This is a copy and paste from an HC thread, but I still get excited thinking about something like this:
Basically the idea would be to have a looper that uses the technology of the HOG expression modes to control various parameters on loops. (when using my SMMH I find myself kneeling down to tweak too much, if only I had a 3rd arm so I wouldn’t have to tap or strum open notes to keep my guitar parts going while doing so)
SMMH sized enclosure, but vertical
some knobs at the top to control different things.4 footswitches- on/off, record, and expression select, and expression direction.
Expression controls:
1. forward/reverse (toe down puts it in reverse, heel down it in forward)
1a. If the expression direction is reversed, it works the same, but the phrase will not be reversed until it has finished playing.
2. speed/pitch (toe down is an octave up or down based on direction)
3. filter (low pass/high pass depending on direction)
4. modulation (heel down turns it off, controls depth/speed based on direction)
5. feedback- toe down is 100%, below that your overdubs start to fade with each successive loop.
6. volume- controls wet volume
7. undo- toe down and it will undo the last overdub (reverse direction for redo, only has a one overdub memory)
8. Reverse record- when set to this mode, when you record your overdub, it is immediately reversed upon playback
9. pitch shift record- works like reverse but with pitch. (the purpose of these two modes is so you don’t have to pitch shift or reverse the whole track to record a reversed or pitch shifted overdub)
10. multiply- toe down doubles loop length
11. tap mode- expression select button works as a tap tempo buttonWith all the expression modes the change isn’t realized until you rock the expression pedal- sort of how knobs work on digital pedals in preset modes. That’s so that switching through all the modes you don’t make a bunch of weird noises and funk up your settings. When you switch away from a setting you changed, the setting is kept at where you left the rocker. So if you go to the modulation setting and ramp up the depth and then switch direction- the depth will remain the same as you left it while you adjust speed.
Put a 300-400 dollar price tag on it and it would pretty much be the best looping pedal ever.

what I would love is the 1 second + rev feature of the hazarai in a little nano box……actually not even the ‘1 sec delay’ part…just the ‘hold down for reverse playback’ part’ with one knob for playback volume (and maybe a slightly longer playback time) it could be called the ‘Mini Deja vu’ It would free up the Hazarai and mean that anytime I wanted to throw in a little reverse playback stuff you could just hold down the switch.
…..man, I want that so bad!!

I am a rabid lover of the 2880 and couldn’t see myself without one unless… You were to improve the device with a few things. I would like an effect loop so i could process the tracks with external devices as i see fit. (imagine my POG or Qtron+ creeping in on various tracks of a loop!) An onboard tap tempo would also be grand so i would be able to change tempos mid song, going from a loose amorphous looping improv to a locked in groove. I know you are moving towards a smaller footprint with most of your pedals but i wouldnt mind if the new and improved 2880 was rack mountable like the painfully discontinued Electrix Repeater. You already make one of the best loopers available but with these few additions you would have the greatest looper ever built! Do it!

second all i need as a improvement from ehx over there already existing loopers is loop multiply and unquantized looping on the four tracks of the 2880 so i can do poly things with it without being stuck with a overall loop time.
tap tempo is nice too.
December 4, 2008 at 5:05 pm #88438julianModeratorI just want a compact looper that I never have to kneel down and adjust mid song

Nice to see some familiar faces.
February 5, 2009 at 4:36 am #92692julianModeratorI still fantasize about this every time I loop
February 8, 2009 at 2:48 pm #92919julianModeratorSo this is news to me, but the 2880’s software update can do pretty much everything I want if used with a midi controller. (Except be small)
And my next planned purchase is the MOOG MP-201 Midi controller. . .
:metal:

Good God! I think my brain would just go into overload. That’s the kind of gear I wish I had about 25 years ago, so I would actually have it somewhat mastered by now.
February 8, 2009 at 6:17 pm #92926julianModeratorYou know I think it appears complicated until you get in there and start fiddling with it.
I could do awesome things with my HOG and Antenna too.
