    Is it possible to modify the Freeze pedal with an effect send/return. I need to effect the Freeze without effecting the straight sound and don’t want to drag a mixer around.

    On looking inside the pedal, there is an unused connector “Con3”. Any chance this could help?

    Hey, I don’t work for EHX, but I think it’s certainly possible, though because of the SMD circuitry, probably a pain in the ass.

    If I were to do it, I’d go about trying to figure out at which point the clean and wet signals are blended.

    I’d do this by taking the pedal apart, then plugging it in, and using an audio probe to find the point in the circuit where there is wet signal but no dry signal. Then I’d cut a trace there and put in the FX loop.

    Thanks for the probe info Julian.

    Yes, the components are tight in this pedal, but it’s worth a poke I think.

    I’d also like to replace the footswitch with something more silent.
    Hopefully there will be a “Deluxe” version of the Freeze with filter and Sustain/Decay/Release envelope settings.

    you can fix this with a Boss LS-2 or similar pedal, no mods necessary.
    put the LS-2 before the freeze. it’s on A<->B mode
    the Freeze is out of the A send, and, after whatever effects you want on it, goes to the A and B returns via splitter cable like this:

    While the LS-2 is on A, play and lock the freeze.
    Switch the LS-2 to B and you can now have an unaffected dry signal and a droning effected signal.

    Thanks for the suggestion Cryabetes. That is exactly one of the things I tried – I use the LS2 on everything!
    But I do lots of short sustains and not many drones, so there is no time for more button presses.

    Mostly I’m trying to minimize the amount of pedals, but for now I’ll just use an aux send from a small mixer.

    Hmmm, what kind of switch is inside the Freeze? Momentary? Latching? How many poles?

    If it’s a momentary single pole dual throw, maybe you could wire up a 3PDT and wire the two additional poles to momentarily feed dry signal into it when the switch is stomped. Then you could just wire up separate wet and dry outs.

    where is the placement of the freeze in your signal chain? because if you put it last, you can freeze effects and keep your dry signal, dry! I’ve seen a lot of people running their freeze INTO the effects, but if you run the effects into the freeze, you can freeze your effects, turn them all off, and still have an effected freeze signal and dry dry signal

    I think he wants to effect the “effected” frozen signal, and play “dry” along with it. But still a nice suggestion Whammy;)

    Yeah. . .

    I’m wondering if the potentiometer is an analog control on the Freeze or not. If it’s analog, then I’m thinking you could just take the signal that is on the 3rd lug and wire it to an extra jack and make that one be “wet out.”

    Hi Guys,

    i know this topic is very old, but i´m out of options and maybe someone can help.

    I´ll recently bought the freeze (and LOVE it!). I tried to rig up the freeze with the BOSS LS 2 like it was discriped here in an earlier reply.

    The thing is, it does not work for me.

    As the old ebaylink was no longer working i bought an EBS ICY-30 Y-Insert Flat Cable (1 Stereo Plugs splitted into 2 Mono Plugs), connected the freeze via the send A with the stereo plug and pluged the 2 mono plugs into the return a and b. The send B was left empty.

    Chain/Chanel A is working fine, but chanel B is not working at all. I´ll switched the cables between return a and b, and then B is working, but a not.

    Could this be because I used a (partly) stereocable? Anyone got an Idea?

    It should be a single mono to two mono SPLITTER cable – no stereo plug since neither the Freeze nor LS2 can use a stereo plug.

    You could make one yourself if you have two short mono cables and a soldering iron. That way you won’t have to wait.

    Well thanks for the suggestion, but that would require an level of handymanship that i do not posess, not by a long shot ^^.

    I did bought an Y-Adapter today (http://www.thomann.de/gb/cordial_cfy_03_pgg.htm).

    I did plug everything the following way.

    1. The Guitar into the INPUT of the LS 2.

    2. From SEND A of the LS 2 into the input of the freeze

    3. From the Output of the freeze into the adapter input.

    4. The 2 Adapter plugs into the RETURN A and B of the LS 2.

    5. A cable from the OUTPUT of the LS 2 to the amp.

    SEND B remains empty.

    Now I do get a signal of the freeze in operation when i switch from a to b on the LS2, BUT i do not get a guitar signal. So I can not play “along” with the drone. Anyone got an Idea?
