hey
i’m using a freeze pedal and it’s making a strange very high pitched noise, around 15khz feeep. strangely it doesn’t always occur, it occurs when i run it with the original EHX power adaptor daisy chained with a Boss ME-50 multi FX, and then it was gone when I used seperate adaptors, but then it was there again when I used two separate adaptors for both pedals, when i used two original adaptors. I tried different adaptors, more than one original EHX 9,6V that is, and I never really got to a conclusion on where the problem really is.
it can be really disturbing when i run an acoustic guitar through the freeze and then a compressor, this will chase away all the dogs in the house… did anyone have similar problems, or is there a problem with my pedal?

cheersi’m having a very similar problem.
i have the freeze pedal in a chain before my line 6 DL4 which i’m using as a looper.
when i go to record a loop and then play it back, it will playback with this high pitched sound in the background. it took me a while to single out the culprit that was causing this (strangely, in my case the squeal is only really heard on playback of the loop), but i eventually figured out that if i took the freeze out of the chain, it would stop happening.
very disappointing (and frustrating!) since i was really starting to like this pedal.
oh and yes, i’ve been using the supplied power supply during this scenario.any EHX tech folk out that have any comments/suggestions?

anybody?
from searching on google, i see that i’m not the only hearing this same high pitched noise…
October 5, 2011 at 6:29 pm #116099BratscheParticipantI had the high pitched noise problem when I was using a multi power supply. I started running the freeze on it’s own power and it was fine.
October 20, 2011 at 12:31 am #116197martskreMemberI have recently run into this exact problem.
I did not have any problems when I was testing the pedal with the included power adapter after I had just received it. The noise came about after I started using the Freeze with my other pedals, all hooked up to the same power supply.
However! The high pitched sound disappeared in rehearsal today when I threw in the Freeze before a Line6 M9. By then I had by coincidence taken out every pedal except the Freeze from the power supply, the M9 running on a separate power adapter. Either the M9 magically fixed it somehow, or using the Freeze on a power supply together with other pedals is the problem.
I want to use the Freeze at a gig next week, so I shall investigate further. I will report back with my findings.
April 5, 2012 at 6:30 pm #117263twotoneblueMemberHello guys,
I recently ran into this problem myself. Overall I am happy with the Freeze, but this is a major issue in my book, when it comes to the quality delivered by EHX. The solution in post #8 at http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=876511 works for me. The post is quoted below for reference:
Quote:The power adapter that comes with it provides 9.6 volts, but it works just fine with 9. I have used its own and a One Spot with no problems. With mine there is one weird situation though: a few times there is a high-pitch sound coming from it, even when its own adapter is being used. After plugging in and out the power source a few times, that sound is (mysteriously) gone. It’s not instantly powered, but it looks as if the pedal “decides” over a period of one or two seconds whether it’s going to… whine about it or not. I’ve also tried this with a One Spot and others in its daisy chain – the problem disappears by doing the same thing (plugging and unplugging – the adapter, not the jack). So unplugging/replugging the wall wort might work, please post back your experiences.
best regards

It still makes the exact same whine. It’s a real disappointment because I missed my window to take it back to the store where I bought it. Darn, I really like the pedal, but can’t use it because of the whine.
(And the thing about plugging the power in and out did nothing for me.)
May 13, 2012 at 1:25 pm #117545twotoneblueMemberThats too bad!
I trust you unplugged the wall wort and not the plug from the pedal (plug from pedal had no effect in my case), and that you also tried repeating it several times…? Please tell us the exact procedure you followed that did not work =J

May 13, 2012 at 5:21 pm #117547aviaviParticipantIt makes no difference if I unplug the power supply, or the power to the pedal.
But here’s what helped a lot: placing the pedal in the last position, rather than the 1st position, on my board. When it’s plugged in to the first position, the whine is very loud and the pedal is unusable. When it’s plugged in to the last position, the whine is very faint, and now the pedal is usable in a gig situation! It must have something to do with the pedal buffering. (And this is with a Visual Sound 1Spot with 5 other pedals connected).
