Just picked up a Freeze and I love it. However one of the ways I’m trying to use the pedal is by muting my amp head, sending a signal through the effect, unmuting and then gradually turning up the Effect Level knob to slowly bring in a drone before playing over it. It works like a charm but unfortunately the pot is scratchy until about the 10 o’clock position. Instead of a smooth swell I get disappointing crackles.
I’ve read that there are certain types of pots, in volume pedals especially where this is normal but since you can’t believe everything that you read, I’d like to hear that (or a solution) straight from the horses mouth.
Have you tried cleaning it with deoxidizing solution that doesn’t contain any lubricants? They have CAIG DeOxit Cleaning Solution Spray on Amazon for $15.
i am having this same issue with my The Blurst; its volume knob is wicked scratchy, which i have just found out because i haven’t twisted that knob in years lol. with the DeOxit spray (which i have), do i first have to remove the casing of the pedal before i spray, or would i just be removing the knob & spraying?
Deoxit can leach in the case and clean it. It is worth a try
Spray a little from the front where the switch or shaft moves, and spray some on the pack of the pot or switch.
Work it a bunch of times to clean.
