Hello to all, and a happy new year!
my quest is very basic and simple… i need to trigger various high quality samples by foot.. i need it to be in a stand-alone version (no laptops too much beer on stage) and it has to have zero delay/latency
thanks

January 3, 2011 at 9:53 am #113475Stoney LonesomeMemberok i am bumping this because i really need an answer..
what we need is a stand-alone (no laptops) machine/pedal that triggers prerecorded samples (movie quotes etc) via a footswitch… i dont need much memory since i use samples once or twice per gig for about 30sec-1min… i was thinking of connecting it with the PA but throught the guitar amp works fine for me if you guys have somethings in mind…
so come on you gear gurus shine a light on a lost soul..
January 3, 2011 at 6:49 pm #113476melxMemberan old akai rack sampler?
there is usually loads of this kind of thing on ebay, I don’t know much about them though….
January 3, 2011 at 9:10 pm #113477CryabetesParticipantotherwise, the Boss SP202 is the only thing I can think of but it’s still probably cheaper [and easier to hook up] to get an RC-2.

January 4, 2011 at 2:45 pm #113495CryabetesParticipantyou’d sample it.
this is from memory (I haven’t owned an RC-2 in about a year- since getting my 2880, really) so forgive me if it’s a little hazy:
run a cable from the line out of your computer into the input of the RC-2.
I think it’s the “play/record” mode that the RC-2 needs to be in. the one with the function knob pointing straight up. Light should be off.
capture it like you would if you were looping it.
turn the function knob to “write”
hit the “enter” button- the light should flash for a little bit
turn the knob to the “loop/one shot”
hit the enter button – light should go from green to orange.
the sample should now play once through when you hit the footswitch.January 4, 2011 at 8:35 pm #113507KartoonHeadMemberReading this really makes me want an RC-2. Are there any cheaper alternatives? The woman is likely to cut my balls off if I purchase another pricey pedal.
January 4, 2011 at 8:42 pm #113508CryabetesParticipantfor the sampling thing? not really. none i’ve come across, anyways.
for the looping though, there’s the DOD DFX94 or the Muza FD90. or buy an RC-2 used [prices seem to hover from $90 to $150]. or the digitech Jam-man solo, although I really hate the footswitches on these and they use a 9VAC power supply.
for buying a pricey pedal while keeping a woman happy, write her a song that you need THAT specific pedal for. It’s always worked for me.January 7, 2011 at 10:32 pm #113571melxMemberhere you go
looks exactly what you are looking for… well maybe?

sifisHave you checked out the JamMan pedals by Digitech? I got one, it’s easy enough to use. You can even store samples on an SD card. It has a normal pedal form factor or you can get a bigger version.
It also has a footswitch to let you select through samples.
January 13, 2011 at 10:37 pm #113717KartoonHeadMemberNew BOSS RC-3 and RC-30 announced at NAMM; 3 hours of loop time, 99 different preset slots, USB connector, will take WAVs up and over 1GB in size. E….PIC. Two channels on the RC-30 with individual faders so you can mix and fade two phrases at once, as well as sticking a beat over it. Even more epic!
January 14, 2011 at 2:11 pm #113733CryabetesParticipantyeah I’m just wondering what’s going to happen when someone isn’t very careful with their new RC-30 and breaks it so its sending phantom power to their guitar…..
