I have what I believe to be an original Memory Man (not deluxe) from 1978. It’s blue on top with silver letters, with three knobs going straight down on right side. It was working when I originally got it, but has stopped.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a good repair service in NYC or close I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

I’m pretty sure Howard Davis could help you with it. He’s in Brooklyn.

    Just emailed him with photos.

Thanks. He appears to be the man

    Appreciated,
    Marc

You can also try RonSound: http://www.ronsound.com
    I think he’s a bit cheaper.

Howard Davis didn’t get back to me yet, but Ron did.

According to Ron, he doesn’t usually do repairs anymore, but will make an exception for EH. We’re in communication and still trying to determine if it’s worth it.

You guys are great. I’ll try and advise results.

What’s wrong with the pedal? What’s it doing? Surprised Howard didn’t get back with you…he’s usually very fast at responding to emails. Plus, he probably built the pedal in the first place lol!

I didn’t recommend RonSound because the OP asked for somewhere “in NYC”; but yeah, RonSound does excellent work :thumb: 😆

In any event, the pedal is on it’s way to Ron…we shall see what happens!

Somewhat related…anyoneknowwhat chips were in the v3 MM?
    This one:
    mm3.jpg
What would stop decay/feedback, turning it into a single echo slapback? Fixable?
Is this MN3005 or SAD1024? Would the delay chip be the problem, or something else?

I don’t own that version, but I would reckon that it’s an MN3005. It seems like the chorus feature was introduced at the same time that EHX switched to using the Panasonics.

If you’re getting at least one repeat, then the delay chip should be okay. There is probably a trimpot to calibrate the feedback.

So Ron got it yesterday, and finished today. Cost $50 to repair. Well worth it I think. He said it’s a 1980, and the work he did was “Replaced IC, adjusted bias and balance trimpots”

Isn’t the IC the delay chip? If so, I wonder what chip he put in there? Did it have reticon sad1024’s to begin with?

Just open it up and see. I’m not sure how many are in there but it/they’ll be easily recognized.
