Hi guys,
my first post & topic here. I just got my Superego, and though I love the pedal in general, that damn footswitch is a problem on several levels and I’m trying to solve at least one of them.
1. it’s too close to the mode-switch, I keep switching it unintentionally.
2. I have no space in the front row of the pedalboard and keeping a foot on it throughout the songs is almost impossible.
3. Even if the pedal was easily accessible, after engaging the pedal in normal mode I really need my foot back for other stuff.Note: I’m using the pedal for backgrounds, feeding the effect signal through POG2 and chorus into a second amp.
So, what I’m thinking is doing some pedal modifying to add an external footswitch, something Boss-type comfy. Ideally it would enable me to use Normal mode in the same fashion as Latch mode but without stacking the frozen sounds (non-momentary, allowing me to use my foot elsewhere until I decide it’s time to change the sound or kill it).
Finally, since my knowledge is pretty limited, does anybody know if Boss FS6 footswitch could help me solve anything:
October 26, 2012 at 8:29 am #118326QuakasuMemberI actually figured out a solution. Use Auto mode with speed all the way up (indefinite freeze) and put a momentary killswitch before Superego so the signal goes through only when the switch is pressed.
To make things even better, I have a stereo-to-monos cable laying around as well as a regular single button Vox footswitch. All I need now is a stereo socket and a momentary switch.
Still, nothing is perfect, so I’ll still have to use a double click to completely turn it off.

(Having so much fun discussing stuff with myself here:).
November 3, 2012 at 11:56 pm #118352That’s really a great idea. The superego really needs some sort of external switch. Unfortunately I highly doubt EHX will put out a superego with an external switch jack. With their history, they are more likely to come out with some sort of superdeluxe ultraego pogman in 2014 with a zillion bells and whistles and if you want an external you’ll have to splurge on that….. and clear a few acres from your board.
adding, subtracting, or moving a switch is easy if you know what you are doing. The only limiting factor is the space inside/outside the box. There are a hundred and one ways of approaching the switch problem. Do you live in a major city with a good amp/pedal tech? I know in new york there are dozens of guys who would do it in a heartbeat for you. It just might not be worth the money….depends on how valuable the effect is to your music.
November 4, 2012 at 7:55 am #118354QuakasuMemberHaha, you’re right about EHX, next year we’ll probably see some knobby Deluxe Superego with Hazarai or something in a triple-sized enclosure.
First of all, a little update, my latch-mode/speed-to-zero solution solved nothing, in latch mode the pedal just fails miserably in catching the sound compared to normal mode, so I’m back to the original, using Auto-mode with a kill switch in front idea (it should probably be called live switch in this case). If this solution proves to be as lousy in sound catching as latch mode, I’ll have no other choice but to simply add an external Boss-type switch which will override the original pedal button (…with my foot trapped again).
I checked the box, there’s enough space to install an additional socket (even two), so that won’t be a problem, and although I live a million miles away from New York (Sarajevo, Bosnia), I do have a good tech who’s taking care of my gear so he’ll take a crack at it probably next week.

Thinking of doing a similar thing so that i can control the pedal from a remote footswitch.
November 9, 2015 at 6:31 am #120995QuakasuMemberI gave up on Superego, hoping EHX will release a better version in the near future. It’s coloring the sound too much.
