Hello,
Does anybody know a method where I can use my V256 Vocoder to get that “fat” analog tone that Daft Punk uses in their song “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”?
I know that I can make myself sound robotic with a synth lead and the gender bender, but I need to imitate that “talkbox” sound.
Thank You.

P.S. – Somebody told me that Daft Punk only used a Vocoder for “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” while certain forums say that they also use a Talkbox. Which is true?
NOTE: I have also posted this same thread in the “Tips” Forum. I want to see which section gets more replies.

But you can get similar sounds depending on the synth you use to drive the vocoder. I use the vocoder setting on the VoiceBox, and run my guitar thru a Digitech Synth Wah, then to the instrument input of the VB. Most of the time people discribe that sound as a “talk box”, even tho’ it’s actually a vocoder.

P.S. I read yer post in the Tips section first, then this one just to see if they were any different;)

ill probably use only the internal synth controlled via MIDI(tho i might feed it the mks, but having it on a separate channel will allow me to sequence t independently form the lead lines (im suing the ESX as my main sequencer, only 2 parts, so ill put up some sequences in live just for the v256(i think after i do that on all 256 patterns, i’ll just move all sequencing duty to ableton and use the esx solely for drums and controls))
anyway enough about my really complicated live rig, the vocal chain will be:
the mic in the v256 mic in
the inst out set to all dry(internal synth) directly in my talkbox
the talkbox tube in my mouth, strapped to the said mic
the line out of the v256 will then go to FOH separate from the main stereo music mix so he can adjust more evenly than i can do it playing and mixing all the machines and trying to sing at the same timeso having the blend to CCW (dry) i get a nice talkbox signal from the v256 (which in robot mode sounds pretty perfect for a talkbox carrier(sounds saw like to me), when i blend 100% fx, i get a vocoder or pitch corrector for signing
and in vocoder moda, i can sing with my voice(instead of just mouthing) with the tube in my mouth, vocoding the dry voice and talkboxed signal, which i think could get me pretty close to the intelligibility of HBFS, with the talkbox-ness of, well, a talkboxanyway, wow, for a second post i went all out 😆
