yeah, it almost makes it pointless…… all it proves is that Pedal A can sound like pedal B and Pedal C, which when you are demoing a bunch of overdrives with the same guitar and amp it’s not exactly suprising is it?
January 16, 2011 at 10:16 pm #113837friedjesseradioMemberlooking around, just found this. surprised nobody alread sited it but i may be wrong
January 17, 2011 at 2:47 am #113843astrozombieParticipantI think every pedal should be tested through 2 totally different amps with 2 totally different guitars, at similar and wildly different settings. When I go to my local store and try out a pedal, i bring along one of my guitars and think about how the other ones would sound through such a setup.
January 17, 2011 at 3:20 am #113845Mr.GrimMember^^^ true astrozombie, and i agree with everyone on the quality of his vids, but unfortunately hes the only one do as many comparison vids as he does, despite weather they could be better or not, plus im sure he has limited funds as most of us, he gets requests to do different pedal demos all the time, so hes always buying new pedals, and probably hasn’t got around to saving enuf money for another amp and guitar, i keep doing the same thing myself dammit!
January 17, 2011 at 4:31 am #113846LiquidiceMembercould anyone explain some applications for the killswitch?
January 17, 2011 at 5:27 am #113847friedjesseradioMember“Electro-Harmonix introduces the Killswitch, a pedal which provides utilitarian functionality and two distinct modes of operation. In Line Selector mode, the pedal lets the player rapidly switch between its effects loop or a dry signal. In this mode, the scope of the pedal’s use is only limited by the player’s creative vision. It can, for example, be used to quickly switch in the effects loop, thereby introducing a burst of distortion, analog delay induced feedback, ring modulation, etc. It can also be tapped in time with what is being played to bring effects in and out of the signal path rhythmically. This is especially interesting when one of the effects is a delay.
In Kill Mode, the Killswitch can be used to provide convenient instant muting. It can also be used to create interesting stutter effects by turning the instrument’s signal abruptly on and off while bending a note or inducing feedback.
Housed in a solid die-cast package, with a 4.37″ long by 2.37″ wide footprint, the Killswitch is pedalboard ready. It is equipped with a 9V battery and can also be powered by a standard 9.6V/DC200mA AC adapter. The Killswitch is shipping now with a U.S. list price of $60.”
January 17, 2011 at 9:57 am #113848grant2playMemberare any demos/clips of the new pedals available yet? I cant seem to find any on the web.
January 17, 2011 at 3:03 pm #113851ToonsterMemberI also feel the same about GMD and his clips, but the same can be said about PGS clips and some other youtube stompbox channels.. And most overdrives just sound the same over youtube imho.. There are of course exceptions, but when I see overdrive clips in my Youtube subscription box, I just skip them!

Agreed, back to the old days where you had to set the knobs on the Memory Man to the Stars for Chorus.

That demo didn’t really do much for me though. It was just a couple seconds with a couple of chords and riffs and with cameraphone audio quality. Actually I think my phone records better audio.
