Hi.
I’m new here, i don’t if this is the correct section. Hope so.
I want to know if the ehx hot tubes pedal is any good in comparison to english muff’n?
Is it good to play classic rock? Led zeppelin mainly.
Thanks
There were two pedals called Hot Tubes. The first was a solid-state overdrive that, for some reason, EHX will not reissue, which is too bad, as I find it to be a good pedal. The second, which I have never heard, is completely different. It, like the English Muff’n, uses two tubes, but it somehow sounds different, in a way I cannot fathom. Both are currently out of production.
The reissue Hot Tubes with the 2 12ax7 valves is great for classic rock. The treble and bass knobs are a paracyclic filter, so they dont behave like a traditional eq section. They behave more like a wah, which allows for some mid rangey tones. If you like Ronson era Bowie, the Hot Tubes will appeal to you.
