November 26, 2013 at 2:42 am #119520EHX STAFFKeymasterNot sure but…
The team here just started building today.
So it will be soon.
They are building fast.
I bet shipping by the start of next week.December 6, 2013 at 1:26 am #119557StormbringerMemberHas anyone tried the new Nano Big Muff with a bass guitar? I am sure it will sound great but would just like to know if it will work with the lower frequencies. I generally use “bass specific” pedals!
January 16, 2014 at 11:54 pm #119621Folkstone57MemberI was able to get one of these great pedals from Matt at The Mad Ape & I am very impressed. For such a small convenient enclosure it sounds great. I’m not a big fan of loads of noise but this pedal gets some very nice cleaner sounds with just a bit of hair that impressed me right off the bat. Another great product from EHX !
March 28, 2014 at 11:21 am #119808Muff DiverMemberI really, really wanted to like this pedal. I have about every other Muff that you make, but this one just left me unimpressed. The one I tried sounded kind of weak and lifeless compared to all the others. Maybe it was just the one I tried out or maybe it’s just my old ears. I’ll still probably get one sometime in the near future, just to have another Muff. Might I suggest you make a Nano Tone Wicker Muff. The Tone Wicker model is simply amazing.
March 28, 2014 at 2:13 pm #119811Folkstone57MemberI don’t have any problem with the Tone Wicker Muff & I don’t see any reason to turn it into a Nano. It is my favorite Muff along with my English Muffin which I also love & definitely don’t want to see go the route to Nano & lose the tubes that are why I love the pedal. Main reason I like the Nano Muff is that just like the TW Muff, it has no problem being pushed by another pedal & it just sounds great. Not the same as the versatility of the TW Muff, but for what I’m getting out of it I’m amazed.

Purchased a smaller “big muff killer” from a botique pedal builder, but didn’t like it. Got the “Little Big Muff Pi” and it sounded thin so I was very skeptical when the nano came out. Bought it, and tried it side by side with my NYC Big Muff Pi and it feels and sounds extremely close, I’m very, very happy with this pedal. I’m guessing either it’s your particular unit or perhaps you don’t have the regular NYC Big Muff Pi.

As I stated previously, it probably had something to do with my vintage ears. They’ve had a lot of wear and tear over the years. I don’t have a modern Big Muff to do a side by side with. I have a V6, a Metal Muff, a Tone Wicker, a Double Muff, a Germanium 4 and a Little Big Muff. My Little Big Muff blew the Nano I tested out of the water. Maybe it was an inferior unit they had in the store, They only had one to try out. I’m still planning on getting one some time in the future… just because I LOVE Muffs! I’ve never had a bad Muff…. some are just better than others.

I just swapped out the Little Big Muff for the nano on my big pedalboard. I’m hoping in the next couple of days to do a side by side comparison of the regular sized NYC Big Muff Pi and the “Little” one just to see how accurate my first impressions were.
One day I’m hoping to do the ultimate NYC Big Muff Pi shootout, with the regular sized, the little, the nano and just for giggles the Line 6 emulation. BTW, the Line 6 emulation is good, but does not sound as full. Loses a bit on top and a bit on bottom but the behavior is close.
I do envy your collection of “muffs”, aside from my 3 NYC Big Muff Pi, I just have the Metal Muff nano. I’d love a germanium, Tone Wicker and a few other muffs, but right now I’m itching for a hot tubes, which has a tone bypass feature which sounds awesome; though I have a whole lotta dirt pedals already….
April 1, 2014 at 1:17 pm #119820Muff DiverMemberWell, I just ordered a Big Muff Nano. I’m feeling like I may have been unfair in my first impression of that pedal. I just hope it sounds a lot fuller than the one I tried at Guitar Center. You guys convinced me to give it another chance.
Ahhh… Hot Tubes!!!!! That looks like an awesome bit of stompage there. I’ve got the Hot Tubes, the Satisfaction Fuzz, OD Glove and the Soul Food pedals in my wish list. The old vintage Hot Tubes was an amazing piece of work. I hope you get one soon! Let us know how you like it when you do.
April 1, 2014 at 7:47 pm #119826echoravenMemberCongratulations, though personally I would have recommended trying the regular sized NYC Big Muff Pi and seeing if you like that one. Tonight hopefully I’ll have a few minutes to put the little muff and the big muff through their paces and see what the differences are.
April 2, 2014 at 1:14 pm #119837echoravenMemberThey are NOT the same pedal. The little Big Muff is more of a distortion, the sound more jagged then the regular sized Pi. The regular sized Muff (as well as the nano) I’d call “wooly” and the “little” I’d refer to as “angry”.
Hopefully you’ll learn to love the little nano…

My Nano Muff should be arriving today! WOOT! I hope it’s better than the one I tested before. My Little Big Muff is plenty wooly and fuzzy, but a lot quieter than my V6 (which can do some humming/buzzing at high gain and volume levels). My favorite of all of my Muffs is the Tone Wicker. I really like the range of tones you can get with the tone bypass and wicker. The Germanium is like dating a different girl every night. You can tweak and play with the different settings on that thing forever and hardly ever get the same sound twice. I don’t get people saying it isn’t a Muff. I can make it sound as Muffy as any others Muff I’ve ever heard, but it also does a gorgeous overdrive and a nasty, chainsaw distortion if that’s what you want. Is your regular muff one of the reissues? I might pick one up some day if I can get it pretty cheap.
April 4, 2014 at 2:41 pm #119846echoravenMemberWhen you have the nano, you have my NYC Big Muff Pi in a smaller package.
The RAMs head replica is not that expensive at $99, though it would be pretty cool if EHX would do a classic muff reissue line. With perhaps commemorative artwork.
BTW, thanks for the link on that kit. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do with custom artwork and at that price is pretty darn good.
Looking forward to your impressions of the Nano!
