Thanks pedaltragic!
When ever you create a feedback loop with an effect the output of that effect will go sky high, unless padded down with something like a signal pad.
Make sure your amplifier is turned down to zero when the loop is created.
Slowly bring the volume up to the level you want.
If you have your amp or recoding setup with the volume up, the huge surge in volume could blow a speaker.
ALWAYS start with the volume at zero!!!!!!!
Great question.
Thank you for bringing that up.
Bill RuppertQuote:Excellent tutorials. They make me just want to leave work NOW and spend hours fiddling with my fx. (The few that I own.) I was wondering if there are any technical risks with setting up the feedback loops demonstrated in part 14 of your demos?April 18, 2010 at 4:57 am #108507Mr.GrimMemberApril 20, 2010 at 2:44 am #97272pedaltragicMemberJust watched the demo on uilleann pipe sound. Outstanding. I had lump in my throat.

in the Christal shimmer,Christal slice and Symphonic examples, you show the settings for the Soul Preacher.I would like to understand what is the exact rule of it in every example or its function. Also, the reason that take you to use it.thanks a lot

The compressor in the clips shown in the shimmer video were used to increase the “sustain” of the guitar.
I wanted the guitar signal to be heard for as long as possible.
A compressor will help achieve this by watching the dynamics of the guitar signal.
As the output of the guitar starts to fade out the compressor will slowly turn the volume up so it seems as if it will ring for ever.
Of course there is a point where the strings just stop vibrating, but a compressor lets you hear the guitar for as long as possible and for as loud as possible while the strings are still vibrating.Bill

I’m new here (first post!)
First of all I want to say a BIG THANKS to Bill, for all the help & inspiration!!
Also, a BIG THANKS to Electro-Harmonix for the amazing effects!
My question (s) are about Crystal-Shimmer Effects!
I felt in love with this sound! I really want to be able to produce these amazing Crystal-Shimmer Effects with my guitar! So, please answer to me these questions:
1) As I understoond (correct me if I’m wrong!) you (Bill!) use a Soul preacher (compressor), a POG2 and two Stereo Memory Man With Hazarai (in paraller) for the Crystal-Shimmer Effects!
The problem is that I can’t afford to buy a POG2 and TWO Stereo Memory Man With Hazarai, so the question is: can I produce this sound buying a POG2 and only ONE Stereo Memory Man With Hazarai? Can I replace the second (in paraller) with another delay box, I already have and having same results in sound? (Behringer DD600)
2) Can I use my own Compressor-Sustainer with the same results? (Harley Benton CS-100)
3) What wil happen if I use the Y adaptors to connect POG with Memory Man (line 1) and in paraller straight to the same Memory Man?! (line 2)
Waiting for your answers!
Thanks again!
