I have an EHX Worm XO pedal that doesn’t work properly anymore. It has a 24V adaptor and one day I was using it along with 3 or 4 other pedals that were daisy chained with a Godlyke Powerall. Those other pedals were on the daisy chain separate from the EHX Worm, and they take a standard 9v adaptor like Boss pedals.
So I turned on the EHX Worm and it cut out and the light (which flashes in time with the rate of the effect… like an opto light on a univibe I think??) stopped working. Now the pedal cuts out everynow and then (it usually works, but randomly cuts out), and the light never goes on anymore. I know I didn’t use the wrong adaptor for the pedals, but maybe combining the 24V with the daisy chain adaptor did something to it?
Is it just a short in the 24v adaptor? Or is my pedal fried? I don’t have another 24V adaptor to try the Worm with, and I don’t have skills to DIY. Do you think if I take it to a guitar shop that it could be repaired?
It could be the adapter, but it could also be something loose on the circuit board. If you know someone that has a 24v adapter you can borrow you should try that first. Any competent tech could likely find the problem if it’s in the pedal.
Ok, thanks for the help. I don’t have another 24V adaptor available to try out so I think I’ll take the pedal to the guitar shop for a technician to look at it. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Thanks.
