Yes there will still be very subtle tonal changes as you adjust the tone knobs, its insignificant IMO.
You can completely bypass the tone stack but its a lot more work.April 29, 2009 at 8:31 pm #96186andvari7ParticipantI’m about to mod my Black Russian Big Muff (Black -> Green), and I have one key question: I know the resistance value of the three resistors I need to obtain, but not the wattage. Could you help me?
April 29, 2009 at 10:35 pm #96191Ned FlandersModerator1/4 watt.

Here’s good list of resistor values for different Muff versions from the BYOC cloners http://www.bmfeffects.com/byoc_large_beaver_mods.htm

February 9, 2010 at 12:28 am #107282Ned FlandersModeratorATTENTION BIG MUFF MODDERS!
I noticed a mistake (due to lapse in concentration likely) in one of my diagrams. The directions were correct but two wires were backwards, it is now fixed.
I advise anyone who has used the following diagram (now corrected) to check the work you done and fix it if need be. Sorry about that!Just to be safe I have also gone over all the other ones I posted and they are fine.
February 9, 2010 at 8:52 pm #107328mille177MemberKind of off topic relative to previous pedals mentioned on this thread, but still within the realm of the thread’s subject matter. I’m planning on adding a jack to my Stereo Polyphase to allow for expression control of the rate. Does anyone know the value of this pot? This will help me find an expression pedal which I can take full advantage of the rate sweep with. I also asked this in a separate thread but thought it might get more visibility here .
February 10, 2010 at 1:30 am #107337Ned FlandersModeratorYou may be able to email EHX about it: info@ehx.com.
The EH man will likely know though.
March 25, 2010 at 6:33 pm #108803chrispunxParticipanthello guys,
i’m going to be getting a holy grail in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if it was possible to mod it to have a battery, if i’m not mistaken its only dc useable.April 16, 2010 at 1:01 pm #109385johnny_jackhammersMemberwould be nice if we could hear some before and after sound clips of the cd mods…hope someone posts a video or a sound clip
April 22, 2010 at 11:59 pm #90843dmc777MemberAnyone else having problems uploading the pics from the small stone “blend” mod? They won’t open for me.
I’m trying to get an idea of how to mod my DEM RI with a blend control, tb, and possibly volume drop. Anyone know how I would go about adding a blend control to it? thanks alo!
June 22, 2010 at 7:05 am #109712theportwinestainMemberSo, this is my first pedal mod EVER so just to be clear here:
I think my initial confusion is just coming from not being entirely clear on how a dpdt switch breaks up a circuit.
I want to do the tone bypass mod on my Russian muff. I know I run a lead from one leg of those two components (a resistor and capacitor, I forget exactly which ones right not) together but then……
Could I put the combined lead onto, say, the first lug of the dpdt switch? If that were the case, what other lugs would then be used to reground the two components and cause the tone circuit to function normally?
Also, how is it that these two components are bypassed by being ungrounded if they are still connected to the PCB? Do you clip a leg?
Pardon my ignorance on all this. I haven’t even bought a soldering iron yet.

This should help. Let me know how it works for you. http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/BigMuffToneControl/

October 1, 2010 at 11:09 pm #111752maibanezMemberI have been speculating the possibility of the modify the little big muff and make a bridge between the input jack and output jack for a get a clear channel, and use the volume as a blend, the idea is to do the same as the bass big muff …. I play guitar and bass and use the little big muff for both …. my question is, how can I do it? there are some precautions that I should take? … can I use the volume as a blend ?…. what are the bedst materials should i choose to use?…. have you some recomendation???…etc etc etc
