I got an EHX Freeze today with the toggle broken and in pieces. I got the little guy removed but I’m not sure what the proper replacement is. It’s a small thru hole dpdt, but I am not sure if it’s on/off/on or on/on/on. Any advice would be appreciated.
November 10, 2015 at 9:50 pm #121000empeebyMemberhey, did you get anywhere with this? I’m having a similar (boot induced) problem…
February 26, 2016 at 10:12 am #121311empeebyMemberI can report some results!
After the ehx customer support team were incredibly unhelpful, I trial and error-ed various switches and can confirm that the proper replacement is an on/off/on dpdt.
The particular model I used was this one: http://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/2md3t2b2m2re/switch-pcb-dpdt-vert/dp/9473009?CMP=i-ddd7-00001003
March 16, 2016 at 8:13 pm #121349stressfxMemberHi,
I just got one in for repair and the above switch is not the correct switch for replacement. I ‘m currently searching for the correct switch and will post with any updates…March 16, 2016 at 8:57 pm #121350stressfxMemberhi again,
I found this
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CK-Components/T211SY9CQE/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvudeGI7i40XOZYXcd1FpzXg3wUrSyMCUY=The switch is a on-on-on subminiature dpdt toggle switch. I think this will work. Will report back once I get the switch.
March 25, 2016 at 10:06 pm #121379stressfxMemberThe switch I posted above is confirmed to be working in a freeze pedal. The switch has to be a subminiture on-on-on switch. you can get it at mouser via link i posted. Good luck everyone.
August 11, 2017 at 2:35 pm #123041luisfrancescoarenaMemberHi,i’m trying to replace my broken toggle switch… how do you put the circuitry out of the metal box? Looks like it’s stuck into the metal case …

(does it fit directly on the pcb and a good fit for the hole? i want to avoid drilling).
I’m assuming yes, it’s just a bit of a pricey part and wanted to be sure.
thanks

I did think it might be an on-off-on dpdt, as the switch is currently broken and the pedal still works but just in ‘slow’ mode. If the switch is broken and therefor ‘off’ that would suggest the middle position is off. Hence when the switch is off/disengaged it defaults to the ‘slow’ setting and the up and down ‘on’ switch positions engage the ‘fast’ and ‘latch’ circuits.
Does that make sense?

Stupid question here sorry, but how do you put the pcb out of the metal box? even when everything is unscrewed the pcb seems stuck in there…
August 12, 2017 at 2:37 pm #123049BrattwellParticipantyou have to unscrew the nuts from the input and output jacks. prise off the big black effect level knob and then unscrew the small nut that mounts the pot to the enclosure. then you have to carefully jiggle the pcb out being careful not to damage anything. It’s all very tight in there and all jacks, pots, switches are soldered directly onto the pcb.
August 12, 2017 at 2:38 pm #123050BrattwellParticipantnow can someone answer my question please?
