I’m brand new to the world of MIDI but I’m trying to sync up my MASCHINE MK 3 with the EHX 95000 so I can have drums and synths from the maschine and use other loops with the 95000.

The maschine has an alternative mode where the pads can be reassigned to send control change commands, however the 95000 doesn’t seem to be receiving any of these at all.

I tried switching the in/out around with the cable and the maschine receives clock info from the 95000 just fine, but I can’t understand why the 95000 won’t receive any of the CC messages – I have tried on all clock modes.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Make sure the two units are set to the same MIDI channel.

What are you trying to control on the 95000 with CC messages? Do you have the CC message numbers lined up between the two units? Page 36 of the 95000’s manual has a table listing all the CC numbers and the functions on the 95000 that they control. For example you can control Track 1’s volume using CC #20.

Also note, the 95000 can receive Program Change (PC) messages to select loop numbers or control all of the buttons on the 95000’s front panel.

While setting up the CC or PC messages, it might be a good idea to remove MIDI clock from the set up to avoid confusion between MIDI Clock and CC and PC messages.

Thanks for your response – I’m trying to change the phrase memory so that I can smoothly transition between parts of a song. I have been referring to the table with the CC and PC commands, but haven’t been able to get any of them to be received.

I have also made sure that both devices are on the same MIDI channel, but the 95000 doesn’t receive messages even on OMNI mode.

I’m not fully sure what you mean by removing MIDI clock from the set up – how would I go about doing that?

I think I’m mostly just confused about how to actually set the 95000 up to receive CC messages – the manual is unclear about which of the MIDI modes should be chosen for this.

    Thanks

The EXT. CLOCK modes on the 95000 only pertain to synchronizing to MIDI Clock. The 95000 can always receive MIDI CC and PC messages no matter the setting for EXT. CLOCK.

Good idea to set the 95000 to Omni mode for the MIDI channel, doing so takes the MIDI channel out of the equation.

What I mean regarding removing MIDI Clock from the set up is to set the 95000 to internal sync mode (EXT CLOCK button is off) and don’t allow the Maschine to send MIDI Clock. This is only a temporary situation to get the MIDI CC and PC messages working between the Maschine and the 95000 without MIDI Clock getting in the way. Once you have CC and PC messages working, you can reinstate MIDI Clock sync.

If you want to use the Maschine to change loop numbers (or phrases), there’s two ways to do this with the 95000:

    1) Send a MIDI PC number that matches the loop number you want to load. So if you want to load Loop 10, send MIDI PC 10.

    2) Send MIDI CC 115 with a value equivalant to the Loop number you want to load. So if you want to load Loop 10, send MIDI CC 115 with value equal to 10.

Thanks again for your help. I’ve tried all those processes with a variety of CC and PC messages and nothing seems to be working, so I’m starting to think it may be on the Maschine’s end (I don’t have another MIDI controller to compare to). I’ve contacted their support and hopefully this will resolve the issue. Thanks!
