Hi,
As soon as I plug the HOG or 2880 power supply into a wall socket / power strip, an electronic hum can be heard in my signal chain. This is only heard if my amp is at high volume or if I’ve got a distortion pedal on. I won’t be playing anything, but the hum will kick in as soon as the pedal(s) is plugged in. Both powered up at the same time makes the hum worse.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Simon
have you tried a power conditioner? how about a DI box with a ground lift? those would be my first two things to try.
Thanks,
No, I’ve not tried a power conditioner. I’ve had a good look online though and they certainly look like they could do the job.
Is it common to use these to power pedals that are pedal board based? I can only find power conditioners that are designed for rack spacing. I don’t mind sitting the rack conditioner on the floor near my pedal board but do you know if they make more compact pedal board friendly conditioners (more like power strips)?
Cheers
I’ve never seen one but that would certainly be a market with low competition *hint hint ehx*
also if you have a pedal train style board, you could probably mount it underneath.
