Hi all,
A friend of mine has asked me to have a look at his EH4800 Phase Shifter. As far as I can tell it is a third issue pedal dating from 1981. This layout uses an LM324N and 2x LM13600N IC’s
The problem is that the signal passes through but there is only a vague phaser-like sound when activated. Not at all working as it should.
The color switch appears to be working as expected. My friend said the pedal stopped working after he accidentally stood on the pot. However the pot appears to be working fine. I measure it as a 2.5 Mohm logarithmic pot.
So I’m thinking that standing on the pot was coincidental and that it is probably one of the IC’s.
Is there a good way to check these in circuit? I’m reluctant to remove an almost 40 year old IC from the board for testing if it turns out to be fine. Or perhaps it’s something else entirely?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Perhaps someone on here has encountered this before?
Thanks
