I’m going to assume you are talking about a Boss DS-1 with the Keeley/Ultra Mod. I have done a few of these for my cousin and a few of his friends. It is a truly amazing mod that will turn the DS-1 into a pedal far beyond it’s price bracket. He is in his mid-50s and has been playing guitar his whole life and he is a tone freak and let me tell you, he loves the thing!

Never tried it. The DS-1 isn’t a half bad pedal in the first place, so I’d assume that the change would work very nicely.

I never heard of this mod, so i looked up few demos on youtube. I think it sounds better than my regular DS-1, but i’m too lazy to mod it so i’ll just keep it the way it is.

For the record, one of my favorite dirt combos is DS-1/Big Muff/Tube Screamer.

The ds-1 is actually a pretty cool and simple distortion pedal. The only boss pedal I like. I’ll have to check out the mod.

I have a DS-1 Ultra on my pedal board. It’s really awesome, I can only recommend it, a huge improvement on the original. Well worth the extra cash.

(Assuming you imply a choice between the two :P) I’d say DS-1 Ultra, hands down. Unless you have something against fat, tight and harmonic distortion. :D

The DS-1 Modded is going to save you lots of money. Buy a used one and then mod it and you can get it for cheap! I do the DS-1 Keeley/Ultra Mod and can do it for you if you want to save some dough…also along the line of Tube Screamers. I have a TS7 I love (got it for $20 on ebay). Modded it and it’s sweet sounding! Thought I might even try a Burr Brown OpAmp in it instead of the 4558 and see what that will do!

PM me and we will figure it out. I am located in Memphis, TN. I could make it an ebay auction or something if you want? I don’t really know but I’m sure we can figure something out.
