Hello,
I’m looking at getting a Double Muff, and just recently noticed that it doesn’t ship with a power supply (??), I have actually been to the store where I was going to order it online, and they don’t have the power supply.
Plus, it’s a dodgy little mini-jack thing, so not your average 9v wall-wart that you just pick up anywhere and make sure it’s the right mA.Basically, where the hell am I supposed to get it? I’m not going to rely on a 9v battery and treat the Double Muff as an investment, where I have to keep buying batteries all the time for peace of mind.
The thing that annoys me is that, I mean, I love EHX to death, I only use their pedals, but why the hell even have an “option” to have the power supply? Bloody ridiculous.
Cheers,
Louis

If you look at the majority of other manufacturers (at all price points), very few give you a PSU with the pedal.
EHX DO include a power supply with their (mainly digitial) pedals which either cannot be battery powered or – due to the power requirement – would drain a battery too fast for battery powering to be a valid option.
(They also include a PSU with pedals which require greater than 9v powering.)In this day and age, where many people have pedalboards and already have an adequate power supply, it makes little sense to include a PSU with low draw, analogue pedals such as the Double Muff.

I understand your frustration, but to put it in perspective, none of my Boss, MXR, or Sonic Research pedals came with a supply either – nor did my Big Muff w/Tone Wicker or Small Stone.
One Spot also sells a converter to convert a Boss style Power Supply to the 1/8″ mini-plug style supply. I’m not sure if the ground is correct on this converter as it is intended for a Rat, so use at your own risk.

I went into the shop where they were selling it and they didn’t have the power supply, which i thought was a bit weird.
I guess I just don’t like to put my trust in batteries, but I’m guessing the battery life must be good then? Thanks.

those 3.5mm jacks were the standard on all(?) American-made pedals for many years; see EHX, DOD, Pro Co etc…
what is now the ‘standard’ 2.1mm was typically found on pedals of Japanese origin, but due to the large market share companies such as Boss command, it made sense to make that the standard.* * *
If you need a power supply, you can get something suitable from many electronics outlets with interchangeable connectors…
Or buy a ‘standard’ 9v PSU and a 2.1mm-3.5mm adaptor…
Or buy a daisy chain-type (One Spot, Diago Powerstation etc) or ‘brick’-type (Fuel Tank, Pedal Power etc) power supply which will come with various different connectors and will be able to power several pedals at once.May 2, 2010 at 10:40 am #94658Kevin DemuthMemberQuote:Ok thanks guys.

Yes, usually batteries last a long time in analogue dirt pedals; they usually have very low current draws.
You’d need to disconnect your input cable when not in use though, as this disconnects the battery.
(Leave your cable plugged in and the pedal remains powered, therefore draining the battery.)May 2, 2010 at 10:44 am #94650LouisLouMemberThanks very much man. I am now much less afraid of the battery.
