I have tried both a Soul Preacher Nano and a Nano Clone and both did not work while other effects were plugged into them in a loop. They work just fine by themselves but as soon as another effect was introduced into the loop they stopped working. It didn’t matter if the effects were on, just that they were plugged in. Anyone know what could be causing this? Any way to fix it?
July 27, 2009 at 3:29 pm #100017The EH ManModeratorWere they also plugged into the same power supply as the others? The Nano Clone needs it’s own power supply. You can’t daisy chain it with other effect’s power supplies, unless they’re of the same polarity as the Nano Clone.
Try it again w/ just the Soul Preacher and see if it works.
July 27, 2009 at 3:35 pm #100018canadatronParticipantthey were on battery power, and I tried new batteries, old batteries, changed all the batteries. Nothing seemed to work.
July 27, 2009 at 3:37 pm #100019The EH ManModeratorWhat effects were plugged in before and after the EH pedals?
July 27, 2009 at 4:25 pm #100021canadatronParticipantI believe it was a Cry-Baby, DS-1, 70’s Dr.Q, and a 70’s Black Finger.

July 27, 2009 at 5:01 pm #100023julianModeratorI’m thinking the FX loop could be part of the problem.
Maybe it’s just me, but those all seem like Effects you’d want in your chain before your amp.
July 27, 2009 at 6:30 pm #100028canadatronParticipantYeah maybe my description was poorly worded. Here’s how it goes: Guitar —> Soul Preacher —>Wah —>DS-1 —> DOD-FX17 —>Dr.Q —>Black Finger —> Amp
Guitar, not that it matters (again maybe it does :0 ) is ’61 Reissue Gibson SG and the Amp I’m trying to put this through is a Blackheart.
It’s not a loop, it’s just a effects board/chain… I’m dumb. I’m just miffed though, seeing as they work on their own but not when other effects are in line with them. I’ve tried it with just one effect plugged in and it just doesn’t work no matter what configuration.
July 28, 2009 at 6:48 am #100046devnulljpParticipantDo they work OK if you just run regular patch cables between the pedals instead of the loop thing?
July 28, 2009 at 4:46 pm #100063julianModeratorMaybe it’s a patch cable problem. I’ve had that sort of stuff happen with bad patch cables.
February 1, 2010 at 12:52 am #106990canadatronParticipantI know this is beating an old dead horse.. but this pedal still doesn’t want to work. It works fine on its own. My other effects work fine on their own or joined together with patch cables, but as soon as I put this pedal into the mix, ANYWHERE, I get nothing. The patch cables are just fine, I metered them out and they aren’t the problem. I’ve tried it many ways but it doesn’t wanna go. Frustrating, seeing as I like the pedal.
February 1, 2010 at 2:09 am #106993devnulljpParticipantAre you dasy chaining the power or something? If you have a mix of +ve and -ve ground that will kill it.
February 1, 2010 at 2:32 am #107000canadatronParticipantNope. Running on batteries.
February 2, 2010 at 2:33 am #107049ranjamMemberIf you haven’t solved this yet, I’ve got a weird suggestion. If I get this correctly, you have the pedals daisy chained from your SG into the input of a Blackheart amplifier. The pedals are run on batteries, not any type of power supply. I still think you have a polarity issue. What I would try (and you have nothing to lose) is to take one of your 12″ patch cables and unsolder one ground. Tape it up so you know the ground is not connected, and check with an ohmmeter. Now try the compressor and then the wah and the DS-1 into the amp. Plug the cable with the lifted ground from the Soul Preacher to the wah, and try the lifted ground at the compressor side and at the wah side. I won’t bet much, but I have a sneaky feeling it now works. Then add the DOD at the end between the DS-1 and the amp, and it might still work. As you add the Dr. Q you may need another modified cord. Adding the Blackfinger should be OK since it is isolated already. Try it and let me know. I may be really smart, or really dumb. I just have to know which it is.
