Back in the late 60’s early 70’s a guitar-playing buddy of mine gave me an effect box which had stopped working. I didn’t play guitar myself so I tossed it in a drawer and forgot about it. Since then I took up the guitar and I’m currently playing with a group. I wanted to use my Les Paul but the tone seems too tame for the setlist. So I searched for and found that old effects box…a “Screaming Bird” by Electro-Harmonix. I want to repair it to use onstage.
Here’s the thing: There’s NO EHX logo on it. All the printing on the case is plain block printing, with not even a sign of a “pat pend”. It’s designed to plug directly into your guitar’s output jack, then you plug your cord into the output jack of the device, which then goes to your amp.
Anyone know anything about it? Is this a collectable item? Should I not touch the insides at all? I was thinking instead of repairing it maybe I should just build a duplicate. Does anyone here know anything about the guts of the earliest “Screaming Bird” treble boosters?
Thanks.

It’s probably an early version, like the first one on this page:

It’s collectable, but still affordable
Pics would be helpful.

Yep. It’s exactly the same as that one.
Thanks VERY much for your help, fellas. Now I’m going to try to find the values for the pot, transistor, caps, and resistors, and try to build my own.
