April 3, 2011 at 12:18 pm #114875The EH ManModeratorThat’s likely some clock noise, which is very typical of DMMs. There’s a NULL trimpot you can adjust to minimize it but I wouldn’t go turning just any trimpot in there.

April 3, 2011 at 1:09 pm #114878The EH ManModeratorIt’s just one of those things it does. If you have a friend who’s a tech they could replace the original trimpot with a multi-turn trimpot. That would allow more exacting adjustments and would likely minimize the noise further.

If it’s too much for you then you might want to go to a digital delay.April 3, 2011 at 9:09 pm #114887ClaburParticipantActually, this is a bit embarrasing. After all this checking it turns out the metallic noise is coming from the guitar…
I have checked that before but obviously not enough.
Admin, it’s OK to delete this thread.
Thanks The EH MAn for your help.April 4, 2011 at 12:26 am #114888ruger9MemberInteresting… it was the guitar. Because, over the years, I have heard UMPTEEN stories like this about EHX pedals. I have to say, I find it incredibly puzzling… EHX has made some of the most popular pedals EVER, but continue to have noise issues… I mean, REALLY?!?!? I just don’t get how every other manufacturer can make pedals that are quiet, but EHX can’t… and when someone complains about the noise, they are told “thats normal, maybe you should buy something else”???? It’s bizarre.
I guess it doesn’t matter… apparently enough people buy the EHX pedals that they can “not worry about fixing the issues with them.” Damn shame. The Wiggler is awesome, but noisy. I’ve heard reports of various DMM noise reports for YEARS. Same for many other EHX pedals. Alot of players have sworn off EHX because of noise issues. Damn shame…
I wonder if the new $450 tap tempo DMM will be noisy?
April 4, 2011 at 6:57 am #114892ClaburParticipantWell, as I wrote above, in this case it’s not the pedal.
The metallic noise is some ringing from my guitar, maybe from the frets that sounds even when the pedal is off.
It’s just that I noticed it much more since the ringing sound gets attached to the delay trails. Now I’m very happy with the pedal and will not sell it.
Beautiful sound.
Still gets annoyed by the metallic ringing but now I know it’s not from the pedal anyway.
I actually feel I bit bad badmouthing this pedal when it was something else causing the noise.April 4, 2011 at 11:16 am #114893ruger9Memberaaaww…. don’t feel too bad. “Noise” is EHX’s middle name.
And to reiterate: great sounding pedals. I’ve owned several. But the noise is unacceptable TO ME. I WISH the Wiggler (for example) was a quiet pedal, I’d still own one.
