    I have a wall wart, true bypass DMM and it pops every single time I turn it on. When I engage the switch, I can see the overload light flicker and this “pop” appears. This annoys me because the DMM delays the “pop”, so I get a “POP … POp … Pop … pop”. I’ve had the switch replaced to see if that was faulty – it wasn’t. Does anyone know what could be the issue? I might have to send it into EHX to have them diagnose it … hopefully that isn’t too expensive.

    You’ve probably already checked this, but be sure you’re using the correct voltage power supply. This would cause this. Also try different outlets – if the problem persists – send it in for service.

    It’s a common problem with mechanical switches and true bypass pedals.

    So after some more tinkering, I’ve discovered that if the circuit board is removed from the enclosure and is in no way touching the enclosure, the problem is solved! Once one of the potentiometers makes contact with the enclosure, the problem reappears. Having my circuit board separated from my enclosure is a less than ideal solution, so does anyone have any ideas?

    FIXED! It was a bent power transistor that caused all this fuss! I simply bent it back to vertical and it was fixed! What a nightmare this was, I’m glad it’s over and I’m once again enjoying the beauty of a DMM again!

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I took off the knobs and placed them back on to “re-align” them and all of a sudden my DMM does not work! I opened her up and couldn’t see anything wrong! I have no idea how this happened! Any clues? I’m afraid this is beyond my ability to repair, does anyone know how I can contact EHX to solve this issue?

    My best (un)educated guess would be to resolder and/or replace that transistor you bent before.
