Hey,
So I have a 2007 deluxe memory man that’s been regularly gigged with since then, and today I noticed it’s stopped working. Power comes on, and the preamp section works, but there is no delay sound or chorus at all.
I’m guessing this means the BBD chip is dead, cos everything else works.
Does anyone know what it’s likely to cost to get it fixed if I send it back to EHX, beating in mind I’m in the UK.
If it is the BBD and I could possibly source another then I could repair it myself too.
Thanks

I very much doubt it’s the BBD.

It’s only lack of a scope (and an accurate schematic) that’s stopping me from trying to fix it myself- I was an engineer at Laney, but with no scope I’m not sure how much diagnostics I can do!
I was wondering if it’s the regulator (or a buffer stage), depending on how the power LED is wired…
Thanks

BenI’ve not used a scope for repairs in years, just an audio signal tracer.

BenIt can likely be repaired without a scope as the EH man said, just taking the voltages with a DMM might reveal the culprit.
I have the factory schematics if required.

February 11, 2014 at 11:34 am #119685ScruffieMemberThis should be close enough actually, some minor differences between it and the modern schematic but it’s completely verified.
February 11, 2014 at 11:38 am #119686donbenjyMemberThanks- I was wondering about a power supply issue, so was looking for one to avoid tracing those tracks around the relay etc, however when I plugged it in last night it worked fine! Visually inspecting the pcb shows no signs of burnt ICs, and all the off board wiring seems sound! Pots look/sound fine and work in all positions, so I have no idea what could’ve caused the issue!
Thanks for the help anyway!
BenFebruary 11, 2014 at 5:53 pm #119688ScruffieMemberCould be a dodgy solder joint somewhere.

Worked for me, my Memory man delay bottom wasn’t worked at the time.
