Hi, going through my unused pedals I thought I’d take a look inside this Deluxe Electric Mistress.
It’s a 240v mains version.
Looking inside, the board code is EH1318.
Interestingly, there is a number written in biro on the board – “#3.”
What caught my eye were the pot codes, which are “1377701”, which translates as January 1977.
Ralf Metz’s page suggests that the Deluxe Mistress was released in 1978. Looking at the confirmed 1978 pedal on Ralf’s page, the pots are dated 1978. While the pots in mine could be old ones from 1977 used in 1978, could it be that this is actually a pedal from 1977? Which means they started making them in 1977 not 1978.
Any thoughts would be welcome, just so I know what I’ve got here.
Many thanks.

They did use old pots as you know which does seem the much more likely answer.
As for the #3, some of them had stuff scribbled on the boards, no idea what it means but that’s not the only unit I’ve seen with numbering.
Sometimes IC’s had dating, post a photo of the component side too.

Yes, quite – it’s 1977 but only just!
I had a (very careful) look at the chip side of the board. Haven’t got time to post the photos here but I wrote a list of the six chips:
RETICON SAD1024A 7328
S SCL4013BE 7713 24
RC4558NB RT7715
UA741TC F7649
S LM324N 7729
S LM311N 7741I’m no expert on chips but I believe the four digit code is the date code, so we could have one 1973, one 1976 and four 1977s, the latest being October 1977.

Does it have any components added to the back of the circuit board? If not, you can probably conclude it’s a first run.
