I have owned a Dirt Road Special for more than a decade and love it. It’s my secret weapon at church. However, yesterday when I went to church and turned it on, the red light came on but there was no sound. Nothing. No humming, no popping, nothing. I can get a pop when I turn it on, but there’s nothing I can do to generate sound through the input. Again, the red light comes on but there’s dead silence out of the speaker.
I really don’t want to trash this amp. Please tell me what I can do to bring it back to life. Thanks.
It could be a number of things: the output transistors, the op-amp, etc. Take it to a good tech and they shouldn’t have any problem fixing it. It’s a relatively simple circuit.
Thanks! Now all I have to do is find a competent tech in Central Wisconsin.
Glad to hear it can be salvaged. It really is a wonderful piece of gear.
Thanks again.
I can fix it for you if you feel like shipping it to Indiana.
you may be new to the forum, but you can trust EH MAN. hes the best at what he does, check out his website.
I love the Bite control on the dirt road special.
